US and Coalition Defeat Houthi Attack in Red Sea Area Between 4 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. (Sanaa time), Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists conducted a large-scale uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) attack into the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. CENTCOM and coalition forces identified the one-way attack (OWA) UAVs and determined that they presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels, U.S. Navy, and coalition ships in the region. U.S. Navy vessels and aircraft along with multiple coalition navy ships and aircraft shot down 15 OWA UAVs. These actions are taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure.
I believe the Houthis claim 37 drones were sent to attack the US ships and 2 missiles were fired at a US cargo ship, the "Propel Fortune." Evidently, US ships, a UK ship, and a French ship were involved in the defense. Degree of coordination unknown.
It'd be quite interesting to know if EW resulted in any of the downings.
But the US was defeated on its southern border, as 15 million invaders have essentially taken over the nation without a short being fired by the US military.
The Houthis didn’t destroy US. Why are we fighting them and not our actual enemies?
Defeat is a funny term. Shooting down 28 cheap Yemeni drones with $12 million SM3 missiles may keep our ships from being sunk, but is it really a win? Pretty soon Yemen bankrupts the United States.
Impressive.
Making big things that move slow and are made of steel hard to hit.
How many tens of millions of US tax dollars spent to prevail today? How about tomorrow? Any container or LNG ships run the Houthi gauntlet this month?
Everyone forgets how quickly Trump annihilated ISIS after years of Obama’s feckless actions. The Houthis are the newest pestilence on the block routing for a Biden victory.
ATTACK, REPEAT, ATTACK.
How many Houthis were taken out?
.
These drone attacks mean zip, zero, nothing in defeating them. We swatted down a few flies, but just like flies, they’ll be back again. Not even flies since the drones are unmanned. The Houthis are merely playing video games and will win every single time with no losses on their end.
The Houthi make up 1/3 the population (about the same numbers as Georgia, USA) of Yemen. Yemen has been fighting them for thousands of years. Apparently, Yemen hasn’t tried hard enough.
The Gaza Strip is the exact same size as Las Vegas so what’s taking so long turning it into a parking lot?
I wouldn’t really call that a win, now if they eliminate the source from where the Drone attacks came from then I would call that more of a win, other wise tomorrow it’s daja vue all over again until the enemy runs out of drones and money to buy new ones.
The US and Coalition Navies are defeating no one. They are not even deterring the attacks. THe only thing they do is deteriorate temporarily the ability of tyhe HOuthis t9 attack. Iran keeps sending weapons down the ppipe and propviding intel for tyhe attacks.
What is necessary is an organized covert targeting of supply ships and radar ships of Iran by nuclear sub. They all should be sunk within a few hours, followed on by a complete destruction of Houthi ordnance and facilities.
Then the US Navy can use the word defeat properly insgtead of this spin meme where they are not doingthe job of keeping the high seas free to all.
