Three ways House Republicans are backtracking on Biden impeachment
Washington Examiner ^ | March 13, 2024 | Eden Villalovas

House Republicans are beginning to temper expectations about the success of their impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.

The possibility of pursuing articles of impeachment remains on the table, but Republicans are far from gathering the near-unanimous support needed to recommend removing him from the White House. A resolution formalizing their impeachment inquiry was approved in December.

Losing steam

Some Republicans feel there’s an unwillingness to follow through, as the chamber has pressing matters to address during a presidential election year. House Republicans face an uphill battle to keep their majority in 2024, and multiple members in vulnerable seats are focused on their reelection campaigns. Headed into November, the GOP majority dwindled further when Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) announced he would resign next week.

“I don’t think we have the will to impeach Joe Biden,” Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) told Fox News. “We just don’t. We’ve got a two-seat majority. You’ve got some guys in these tough districts that don’t want to alienate maybe independents or moderates.”

“They’ve laid out a case for impeaching Joe Biden,” added Nehls, a member of the House Freedom Caucus. “But I just don’t think we have the will to do it.”

Uncovering facts

Republicans have spent months claiming they have evidence of Biden’s wrongdoing, but without producing a smoking gun, they’re beginning to justify their efforts as a fact-finding venture. The inquiry, led by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY), has zeroed in on Hunter Biden, subpoenaing AT&T to obtain phone records last week. Hunter Biden has testified that his father wasn’t involved in his business dealings.

“When the staff tells you they can’t identify a particular crime, that’s a problem,” Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) told Fox News. “But we should welcome the investigation. It’s more about letting the voters know the truth.”

Explains the recent bunch of mid term resignations and the removal of Santos.

They are trying to give the Democrats control of the House.

I think it’s mostly because they want to face Biden this year...they don’t want the rats swapping out for Newsome or Big Mike.

Just systematically leak all the evidence of Biden family crimes during the campaign season.

The MSM will have to spend much of its time exonerating Biden - instead of attacking Trump.

Impeaching Biden is a bad idea.

Don't stop your enemy when he is making mistakes.

Biden is the best candidate to run against in 2024.

Don't help the left get rid of their worst candidate.

Depublicans more prevalent than Remocrats.
In the latter case only West Virginia Manchin comes close

Biden is the weakest candidate since Carter. The dems are stuck with him and desperate to get rid of him but politicly can’t. Any attempt by the dems to remove and replace him before the election would be a disaster for them.

Why should we help them out and give them a new narrative to exploit? “Look see the Republican’s hate old and disabled people” or whatever BS they can come up with.

No lets keep Biden right where he is, while we keep the investigations hot and public.

We can impeach him after he leaves office just like they did to Trump.

Impeachment is dead in the Senate.
Even if Joe beats Trump, he’s gone before the midterms

What would impeachment prove?

Like Senator Schmuky said re the DC deep state; “they’ve got 6 ways from Sunday to get to you”. Obviously most of the DC Republicans have been gotten to. Cowardly traitors, the democrats and republicans alike have sold us out and they aren’t finished yet.

Sun Tzu tactics are appropriate here.

Are we trying to make Kamala Harris President?

That makes zero sense.

I have no problem with lots of hearings and publicizing Biden’s criminality and treason.

But—at the end of the day we want to run against him.

Yeah, really a symbolic move at this point, and unlikely to remove him from office. Better to focus on and win the election and remove him that way. Better odds and better results.
