Saudi Arabia is all set to trade 42 Lockheed C-130 Hercules, manufactured in the US, for 33 Brazilian Embraer C-390 Millennium. The deal not only includes these aircraft but also encompasses training, production facilities within the country, maintenance, repair, and overhaul services.

You know things are getting serious when this BRICS business causes the MIC to take a punch in its profits.
Good luck with that aircraft change. Swapping out what is arguably THE most reliable and versatile aircraft in the world for that Embraer.
Follow the money. Someone got their pockets lined.
Possibly kickbacks -it’s Brazil.
Herc is somewhat better on maintenance. 390 is faster, smoother, not as noisy, with a longer range. I’ve flown in both. Much prefer the 390.

The C-130 is quite simply one of the greatest if not the greatest aircraft ever manufactured. I think the Saudis may regret this.
Bribery and graft in an Arab country?! Perish the thought!
The C-390 can fly much faster, has a longer range, and has a greater lift capacity.
The C-130, though a proven plane is getting long in the tooth.
......in 40 years of non stop business involving thousands of large transactions I’ve found that it is ALWAYS, ALWAYS BEST in the long term to do business with LONG ESTABLISHED, FINANCIALLY SOLID companies.
Lockheed was founded in 1925 and is today Lockheed Martin with 67.6 billion in revenue/business.
Embraer was founded in 1954 and has total revenue (per Wiki) of 4.2 billion.
Long term, this is a dubious move by the Saudi’s.
