Russia fired 31 ballistic and cruise missiles at Kyiv before dawn Thursday in the first attack on the Ukrainian capital in 44 days, officials said. Air defenses shot down all the incoming missiles, though 13 people including a child were injured by falling wreckage, they said.
Ukraine’s air force said Russia launched two ballistic missiles and 29 cruise missiles against the capital.
Kyiv has better air defenses than most regions of the large country. The missile interception rate is frequently high, rendering Russian attacks on the capital significantly less successful than during the early days of the war. Even so, Ukrainian officials warn that they need considerably more Western weapons if they are to prevail against Russia's invasion.

The Ukes are in a difficult position. They withdrew many air defense assets from Kiev to redeploy near Avdiivka where many were promptly destroyed. What to do, bring them back or leave them on the front lines in anticipation of the coming Russian offensive?
“Air defenses shot down all the incoming missiles”
Yeah, right. The videos of damage inflicted are already up.
HA! The jokes on you. Kiev shot down 32 of the 31 fired! Take that Putin. Signed - zeeper dudes and dudettes. reeeeeeeee!
“The videos of damage inflicted are already up”
The missile may get hit but the warhead will tend to keep flying.
Who knows, what goes up must come down. Russians say this all the time as well and actually could be true. A missile hit and warhead not destroyed will fall and do damage

Well, that’s one way to spin it.
The other is that those missiles are targeted at specific sites of military significance, the attacks are at night when factory workers and civilians are less present, which explains the relatively low collateral civilian casualties, and Kiev attempts at missile intercept sometimes knock them off course or fail, with the debris falling into residential areas.
If Russia wanted to flatten Kiev in a blitz, it has the capability.
Good point, Russians are in a difficult position as well, defend strategic industry with air defense by moving assets from the front, or leave them there and leave things like oil refineries less defended
More people than that were injured and killed in Shitcago over this past week end....and a whole lot cheaper, I might add...

Also one way to spin it, or Russia is using up their missiles at the rate they can produce them.
After two years, IMO, they don’t have the capacity to flatten Kiev, and would also imagine in wartime economy factories don’t work 8-5. Limited casualties could be the result of damaged missiles warheads hitting open areas for the most part.
44 days is a long time, will see what the trend becomes

Can you please post us your stats on Russian missile production?
Few people after 2022 still say the Russians are running out of missiles or have to conserve any kind of ammo.
Also the rapid rapid advancements in precision targeted drones and FAB’s are reducing the target set where missiles are needed
Russia was launching nearly 100-200 missiles in each mass attack just a few months ago. They would also send Iranian drones in advance of the cruise missiles to try to identify Ukrainian air defense. Now they’re down to 31 missiles in this attack. No attempt to draw out Ukrainian air defense in advance this time either.
I have no reliable stats as no one does, my belief is that if Russia had the missiles they would use them, just my opinion
As to FABs they don’t have the range to hit deep into Ukraine like Kiev and Odessa and drones are relatively easier to shoot down.
Attacking places like Kiev with missiles is most likely done to tie down air defense.
Only time will tell if they are stocking up.
As many have said, unlike the posters comment. Basically two options they are shooting what they make, or they are stock piling.
I go with the former, but none of us can really know
If we start seeing German v-1s and 2s along with T-34s and KVs we might have a clue 😎
Russians just shot down one of their own transport planes again over Taganrog, Russia.
Russia had enough ammo to shoot down another one of their transport planes over Taganrog Russia just now.
“Basically two options they are shooting what they make, or they are stock piling.”
I think the Russians are stockpiling tens of thousands of drones. They are making guided by wire drones and AI ones (un-jammable) along with 35,000 a month dumb ones. Most of the more successful large scale attacks lately have been happening by drones on both sides.
Drones are going to become the future of warfare. The bombers that launched the missiles at Kiev maybe soon will be dropping drone swarms instead of missiles. Making air defenses fairly useless. If they are not developing this technology they are foolish. A bomber can carry 88,000 lbs of cargo, imagine how many drones that would be per plane?
And it gets 100 miles per gallon! This is some great joe Isuzu here. Lol
