I recall that right after 9/11 when members of Congress were gathered in front of the Capitol, there was a congressman who stepped to the microphone and said, “They (the terrorists) want to eradicate us. We need to eradicate them first.”
That will be what it ultimately takes to end this threat.

Totally agree. After 9/11, the West needed to go all medieval on radical Islam, much like FDR did against Imperial Japan. But instead Bush II told us “Islam is peace”.
So here we are. I suppose a course-correction is possible. But many, many innocents are going to die first.
