“The Taxpayer will foot the bill.”

I wonder what the insurance company is going to do with the premiums the container ship paid to them.

In 1980, Florida's Sunshine Skyway bridge was taken down by a ship. The replacement cost was $230 million, with $105 million of that coming from the Federal Highway Administration and the balance coming from the state of Florida -- funded by tolls on the new bridge:

"Drivers making the trek in a standard two-axle vehicle can expect to pay $1.75 in cash. Three-axle vehicles now pay $3.50, four-axle vehicles pay $5.25, and five-axle vehicles pay $7" [discounted by roughly a third with the Sun Pass].

The tolls for the Key bridge?? 2-axle, $6.00 ; 3-axle, $12.00 ; 4-axle, $18.00 ; 5-axle, $36.00. Yikes.

I think Lloyds of London might be in for a big part of the costs.

Yes.

“We” will foot the bill with “our” money. Hopefully brought in saddlebags on a unicorn floating here on a magic carpet.

Or, gouged out of working taxpayers’ life savings as they and their children and grandchildren face enormous debt.

Biden: Just charge it.

Correction, Lloyd’s of London (or equivalent), the logistics company, and the owner of the ship.

Politicians view taxpayers and the government as two completely separate things. Once they get your money, it is then THEIR money to piss away as they want.
