Well, given that it’s 8am, I expect the interview was yesterday.

The pilot was likely advised by counsel to not conc=sent to an interview right away. As a citizen, you have every right to do that. If you’re involved in a crash or self-defense incident, it’s wise to let 24 hours pass and the adrenaline rush to settle down.

My son was completely not at fault a few months ago when he rolled a fully loaded dump truck evading a school bus that pulled out in his path. He came over to our hose 6 hours after the accident and was seriously jacked up on adrenaline still. Imagine a crash that resulted in multiple deaths and billions of dollars in damages.

Given the scarce information, it seems that pilot performed admirably and went right into action attempting to stop a behemoth.

That’s exactly what I said to someone right after I heard about it and the rumors started flying that it was Islamists.

However, China/Russia aren’t really in the terrorism business as much as the economy destroying business when it comes to the U.S., and shutting down a busy port has ripple effects.

I still think this was pilot error or careless maintenance or both.

“Please continue with the conspiracy theories. I’m home from surgery and I’m bored”

This has all of the earmarks Zionist conspiracy, as it appears to show no links to Israel, BUT that is how Israel operates - terrorizing the world, without leaving fingerprints. Heck, they even terrorized my car last week and then bought off my mechanic to tell me that it was ‘a bad AC Compressor’. Nice try, since it’s still cold here and so I don’t use the AC. They’re not going fool me. No way!

The pilot did well. He had no choice as to when the ships systems started failing. When He or she knew something was up the call was made for a tug. And a tug, in minutes could, if nearby, could push the bow of the ship in a direction to avoid the bridge. Apparently a tug wasn’t close enough to the ship to make it there.

I suspect “minutes” is hardly enough time for a tug to gain control of a 1000 foot fully loaded cargo ship.

since it would have taken them minutes to get to the ship, and more minutes get in position. Getting control would have taken a long time. Fruitless, but like dropping the anchor, protocol. The ship was too close to the bridge and going too fast for anything to stop it from hitting.

Was there a Harbor Pilot on board, navigating and directing the ship’s exit from port? That is the billion dollar question. Everything else is what is “leaked’ or ‘discovered’ and speculative.

The Pilot must keep silent so until there is a mast hearing and Coast Guard inquiry there is a void.

Besides the claim made about “a” pilot— is there an identified official pilot—is what I mean. MSN here has strung together bits and pieces which may not be the case at all- and the fact it is MSN immediately calls into question what is being pushed— by operatives unknown.

Know we know that large shipper CMA CGM is “force majeure” for all incoming cargo to Baltimore ,dropping at alternate ports and closing their lading bills after the drop. Supply chain threat, strategic on East Coast.

I don’t know. The reports only say a captain & 2 pilots. Was 1 a harbor pilot? The media is notorious for giving vague info.
Why they didn’t employ help from a barge or 2 is a question that needs to be answered also. I’m guessing it was cheaper not to and that the departure was planned at high tide with the assumption that it would help them get through the harbor without help. It probably would have worked if they hadn’t lost power.

Watch the video at 8x speed. The ship turns right into the pylon as if it’s being steered into it intentionally. Sure that could be currents or a stuck rudder. But it is freaky.

I still think this was pilot error or careless maintenance or both.

From what I heard, the ship was having the same power problems while docked in port, so the careless maintenance part might be half-a'ed repairs to get out to sea. From what I've seen, the only pilot error would be in agreeing to take the ship out with those repairs.

At 1:30a, everyone is sound asleep tucked in for the cold night.it takes 30 minutes to get a tug operational from a cold start, not to mention the crew. I believe, the transition procedure in and out of port for large ships will require a tug escort, maybe 2. At 100,000 tons, 1 tug won’t be enough.

Please continue with the conspiracy theories. I’m home from surgery and I’m bored.

The best conspiracy theories are those where all the evidence that there was no conspiracy is itself considered evidence of the conspiracy, as such evidence merely shows the extent of the pre-planned coverup of the conspiracy.

Many such cases. Particularly around this particular site.

Meanwhile, I trust that your recovery goes well.

So says MSN deriving from NTSB. We will not hear from the Pilot(s), until official hearing for facts. This is ear droppings from some NTSB person... a Ms. somebody. Sorry, you’ll have to force me to Trump Bond that payment, as a bigger question is why this bridge had never been fortified against collision as, say the Sunshine State bridge was in FL. That accident was with a phosphate ship losing control in a gale common to the waters there. A tragedy that took out a Greyhound bus with passengers.

What is developing is the impact on US Coal Industy- from this port, and this conduit is HAZMAT designated route to avoid tunnels with risk of destruction. So why not on every support on the bridge? Not the 2 one can see in photos. USCG photo here: https://cdn.dvidshub.net/media/thumbs/photos/2205/7237620/1000w_q75.jpg

“I still think this was pilot error or careless maintenance or both.”

Careless/cheap/no maintenance is the most likely cause.

With hindsight we might be able to work out something that the pilot could have done to avoid the bridge support (and hit something else) but that is unlikely to be anything that the pilot could reasonably have been expected to work out in the situation.
