Plan For Massive Toll To Drive In New York State Approved

The headline is misleading. The story is about congestion pricing in NYC.

Apparently, they plan for Trump to make up most of the losses. All they need is one more rich conservative to go after and they can collect the rest needed. Conservative NY businessmen, are you paying attention?

You are correct. Counties put tax anticipation certificates up for sale. The property can be redeemed by payment of the tax plus interest. If you know what you are doing you can make a pretty penny at it.

Especially if you’re the state.

Someone really should take a look at what’s going on with land banks in NYS.

Newark NJ has tried this scheme a couple of times over the last decade or so, whereby the city offers vacant property lots for sale in the city for $1. I remember the first time clearly, as people lined up around the block for them (apparently buying into the idea that they had no wealth to pass along because of white people?); many lots were purchased, and a year later the scheme was revisited. Most had been returned to the city, as the buyers realized they had to build on the lot within a few years - and they’d be transformed from rental-assisted gibsmedats to property tax payers.

Recently they tried again, and as I’ve heard nothing, I assume nobody bought any; it is a dead city, only on the map for its airport and train hub (which move people from one place outside Newark to another place outside Newark). The relatively tiny downtown basically shut down during COVID and never really recovered.

It is sad to watch the mayor posture and BS about how Newark could be the next Hoboken; buyers will wait until the cattle cars transport the current residents elsewhere before investing a penny there.

I wasn’t aware of the one dollar lot purchase gambit.

How things work is like 2 + 2 to you and me but a Marxist/Liberal member of the Democrat Party just doesn’t get that “people”, including fellow liberals, will move out of a city when you turn the criminals loose. I shake my head every time I think about Liberals wanting to defund the cops and open the jail doors. Jeez!!!!

I’ve challenged various people many times over the decades to name me one town in the WORLD that was controlled by black people and that was not a shithole or on the way to becoming a shithole. No one has been able to.

Now we have LaTitia James, Fani Willis, Nathan Wade, Alvin Bragg and others trying to destroy our legal system. Hell, maybe they already have.

$15 to enter, if you make multiple trips a day, what with bridge tolls, parking fees, 5 days a week you will not have any money left for yourself.

Plus the city will have far fewer people spending money on anything then on tolls so will spend their money elsewhere. Business’s will close.
Future headline will be: city has less money for everything.

Imagine being proud of ‘driving’ away 20% (at least) of the people who want to do business in the city.

FTA: The Final Environmental Assessment estimates a roughly 15-20% reduction in the number of vehicles entering the Central Business District,” Hochul’s office said.

Those dupes (Adams, James, Willis - even Obama) have no idea they’re just the puppets doing their master’s bidding. The public support of abortion rights by these jackasses, clearly designed to eliminate their own people, is mind-boggling; for the NYC ones in particular, the news a few years back that NYC had more black abortions than live births exposed it all - and business continued as usual...

I live near Newark NJ (a dozen miles west of NYC), and it is clear for both places that nobody else wants to run for mayor in those dumps. When you hear the tokens speak, you realize no serious people (another Michael Bloomberg, for example) would even bother anymore.

https://esd.ny.gov/doing-business-ny/new-york-state-land-bank-program

“Land banks are not-for-profit corporations created to take control of, and redevelop, vacant or abandoned properties to better serve the public interest...”

Wish someone would take a real good look at what they get up to.

People are getting screwed.

What that link doesn’t say is that the land banks also take control of properties seized for back taxes.

And tax foreclosures in NYS are way up, but oddly enough some properties are far more likely to be seized than others.

And what happens after the land banks get them...

That’s why the need for scrutiny.

You’re welcome.

My bet is there is an astronomical amount of money being pocketed for starters.

And the condition of the homes being sold, and the amount of disclosure to buyers, is another issue that really, really needs attention.

A close second to soul-crushing tyranny, the other basic flaw of communism is it’s failure to acknowledge — much less to accept — normal human behavior.
