Have you considered that oil and wine both represent the Holy Spirit? Perhaps this rider on the black horse has restrictions on who he can impact.

Oil definitely is the Holy Spirit in the parable of the Ten Virgins.
IMHO
Given Who He is I don’t personally believe that He needs any protection (IMHO once again.)
