Arizona abortion rights amendment backers says they've gathered signatures needed for 2024 ballot

PHOENIX — Groups working to put reproductive rights in Arizona’s state constitution say they have exceeded the signature threshold to put a constitutional amendment on abortion on the state’s ballot in November.

Arizona for Abortion Access, a coalition of reproductive rights organizations including the ACLU of Arizona and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Arizona, says it had gathered 506,892 petition signatures as of this past weekend, with more than three months to go until the July 3 deadline to submit the signatures to Arizona’s secretary of state. The threshold to put a measure on the ballot is 383,923 signatures, and while some typically get invalidated in the verification process, the amendment appears on track to go before voters this fall.

“This is an issue that people are eager to see on the ballot,” said Cheryl Bruce, the campaign manager for Arizona for Abortion Access. “As our volunteers are out collecting, people are coming up to them, folks are coming up to them and wanting to sign this petition,” said Bruce. “They want to see access to abortion restored in the state of Arizona,”.

Having the issue on the ballot alongside President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump this fall will elevate a key plank in the Democratic platform in a major battleground state. The Supreme Court’s 2022 Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade and putting states in control of abortion policy has been a major part of Democratic campaigns.

Biden won Arizona by 0.3 percentage points four years ago. It is the closest swing state from 2020 that appears likely to have an abortion ballot measure before voters this fall. On Monday, Florida’s state Supreme Court approved a similar November ballot measure there, while also upholding the state’s current limits on abortion. Trump won Florida by 3.4 points in 2020.

I’m sure it’s purely a coincidence that these abortion ballot initiatives are suddenly popping up in some of the most critical states for the general election. Another attempt to mobilize the bloodthirsty single women to come out and vote for their favorite sin, and of course vote against Trump in the process.

If a critical mass of voters is so focused on instituting Roe v Wade at state levels that they turn the tide to Biden, then let the nukes fly and stuck a fork in the US. We’re done.

In Florida it has to pass with 60%, which gives us a fighting chance to defeat it. (Although it passed in Ohio, the pro-aborts didn’t even reach 60%). What percentage needs to approve it in AZ?

Right now, it needs only a simple majority but on the ballot alongside it also will be a requirement that it have 60%, also only needing a simple majority to pass.

Exactly, get the single women ranting and it's amazing they want most things like Europe except abortion as most European countries only allow abortion e.g Germany and Italy within 12 weeks, France and Spain 14 weeks except for extreme circumstances not the vague wording of US ammendments

That's the problem with having Trump on the ballot. He's not popular with the ladies.

100% of these abortion initiatives are being financed and organized by Democrats.

Political Left - completely brilliant - as usual.

Political Right - completely stunned and helpless - as usual.

Then we need to mobilize the men, especially black and Hispanic men who object to the pussification of America.

It is a clever of way bringing in the baby killer vote. It will also motivate the pro life voters as well. At least it settles the issue in whatever states have this on the ballot. The sooner it is settled , the better. Let inflation and invasion become the top issues again.

The sad truth is this issue is essentially moot. The abortion pill will always find a way to women who want it. Governments won’t be any more effective at stopping these pills than it is at stopping Fentanyl.

There is nobody on the “political right” in the Republican Party, if that’s where you’re looking.

What government has attempted to stop fentanyl?

It will also motivate the pro life voters as well.

That won't work. The votes are not there. Pro life voters are a minority.

It’s my suspicion that the Democrats wanted to lose the abortion debate in 2020, to drive the young women vote to help win seats. Now, they are offering to reinstitute a national abortion law if these same young women vote for the Democrats.

Texas. Arizona would have as well but Democrats stole elections there as well. Again. Kari Lake is now running for the Senate on this issue.

There should be legal code that prevents national suicide proponents from enacting any form of public policy.
