Saying “difficult to say” shows how close we are to civil war.
So no longer someone in Congress will say “My esteemed colleague is mistaken, in my view.” Or “Reasonable people will disagree.” Now it’s the other side is the enemy and is in my sites.
He should have said “Despite some ongoing policy discussions that admittedly show disagreements we still back Israel as our long time partner in the region.”
That’s done for.
