I understand and pretty much agree with your argument, but the problem with it in practical terms is that SCOTUS has said it is for the states to decide. The only way that changes is for a Constitutional Amendment that prohibits abortion.

As I’m sure you know that would require 2/3rds of each house to vote for it and for 3/4ths of the states to ratify it. That means that 13 states can block any such amendment.

Frankly I see no way for this to happen.
