Several months ago, the chain had 64 locations in the U.S. If it can get the total down to 60, it will be exempt the new minimum wage law.

The solution, imo, for minimum wage workers are not perpetual increases in the minimum wage. But to increase the pathways to learning marketable skills.

Just wait until their EV mandate kicks in the jobs in the auto industry and connected to it will go bye bye

I’ve read where some of these companies are just closing shop.

It’s just amazing how self destructive Californians are. Buy electric!!! Shut down power plants!!! Pay illegals!!! Don’t use air conditioners, or charge your car!!! Oh yeah..watch where you step!
To: strange1
So who is going to meet the demand for those retail products going forward? My guess another store will open up.

This might have more impact if the stories weren’t repeating the same location in the remote location of Lemoore, CA, with a population of less than 30,000.

Well, there’s one good thing the Democrats do. Their stupid policies are teaching everyday Americans about economics and why some things that might sound good to people who know nothing about business (like a minimum wage) just don’t work.

Scott Rodrick, who owns 18 McDonald’s locations in the state, told CNN he has raised prices about 5% to 7% in the last three months to anticipate the higher wages. Instead of cutting any worker hours, he also plans to grow his delivery operations and make decisions about large capital expenses, like postponing updating a dining room or putting off buying new grills or rooftop HVACs. The impact of Kalifornia’s stupid socialist laws will ripple through the entire nation and the world.
Delay of capital upgrades in Kalifornia means less work all over the country for skilled trades.

It says right in the headline that the place has been shut down. No one is working there.

I agree. Learning on the job was the first step for so many kids and even for a lot of adults. And they way to keep your head above water while you went to academic or trade school. If you make the first rungs impossible to reach, you create an unemployable underclass and plant the seeds of civil unrest. Raising the minimum wage chokes the economy.
