It’s not in Israel’s interest to take any steps that would likely result in a full scope direct war with Iran. It would inevitably lead to substantial US involvement, and maybe even direct combat with Iranian forces. That’s not in our interest either.
Warfare should be deliberate and planned, not something done in the heat of the moment without a clear goal and exit plan. On that count, Colin Powell was always correct.
