He's launched so many Starlink satellites into orbit that the mass of Earth has been reduced, speeding up its spin.
Oh, somewhere, somehow one of these headlines is probably being labeled 'racist'.
The irony is that the contrast is cliche'.
Either climate change or PDJT.
Stop five people on the street and ask them what time it is on their watches. You’ll get five different answers. I don’t really think one second is that big of a deal.
wait just a darn nanosecond! NBC just said the earth’s rotation is slowing ... can’t these liars get their lies straight?
Now the old saying “Wait just a second” really means something!!
Oh, great, just when I was getting used to Daylight Savings Time, they throw in this...............
Now we know why she should have stayed away from the Tree of Knowlege.
Now they Vote!!
They have had to add leap seconds in the past due to slight slowing in the spin of Earth. So this would just be removing one that had previously been added.
CBS says it is spinning faster. NBC says it is slowing.
ABC for the tie-breaker?
These two stories were posted on the same day โ one from NBC News and the other from CBS News:

Dang, now I’ll miss MORE sleep.
Its trying to speed up the time that Biden has left.
Global Warming....
Trump’s fault. Trump and those damned gasoline powered SUVs.
Womyn and minorities hardest hit.
So, we are going to hell in a hand basket faster than we suspected. And yes, I carry a hand basket...
Talk about solid bull feces! Approx. 5 articles below THIS one on THIS page, an article states that the earth is beginning to slow down, due to melting polar ice. Global warming, dont-cha-know! Fortunately, my schedule is not tight enough to be affected, whichever one is correct. Iโd hazard a wager that they are BOTH blatant lies!
Imagine how many black sports timekeepers this is going to screw up. Damn shame. LOL!
Data plot depicting length of day variations (in seconds) from 1962-2023, from IERS
If the excess length of day averaged 0.002 seconds for a year, atomic clocks would be 0.002 x 365 = 0.073 seconds ahead of the earth. At a rate of 0.002 seconds a day, a leap second would have to be added to once every 500 days, or about twice in two years, close to the 27 leap seconds in the interval 1972-2023.
Civil time is ultimately based on mean solar time, determined so that the sun transits the Greenwich (Prime) Meridian at 12:00, on average. Astronomers and navigators want a time scale that is tied to the rotation of the earth, hence the effort to keep civil time in step with earth's rotation. Astronomers also want a time scale that is independent varying rotation of the earth, and have devised a uniform time scale, Dynamical Time, abbreviated TD, that does not incorporate leap seconds, and advances uniformly (as measured by an atomic clock) to calculate the future positions of planets and the moon. Atomic time was calibrated to match the average rotational period of the earth between around 1700 through 1900, for historical reasons.
