France’s alliance with Russia is what caused WWI to blow up. It should have just been between Germany, Austria and Russia.
Yes, but the best outcome would have been that an international solution to the entire crisis should have been found.
Still, what would have become of Poland? Westminster had actually promised „home rule“ to the Irish in 1914, so it seems to me that the Irish problem would have evaporated out of its own accord.
But the Poles? In 1914, they were the largest European people with no polity of their own… :-(
