This will get interesting. I believe in just the last few weeks Trader Joes won in court over a similar issue with heavy metals in their Dark Chocolate. I believe the Judge ruled it wasn’t a case of there not being heavy metals in the chocolate, but that the FDA had not set what acceptable levels were. (or something to that effect)
Consumer Reports tested major label Chocolate manufactures product and found various levels of multiple heavy metals in most if not all of them, Garadelli had the least amount of those brands they tested.

True, I made my own back then. But now the articles coming out are on the chemicals and coatings, and 1 on what they think is water sprayed on certain fresh veggies. Is actually watered down Hand sanitizer. I tried to give a broad look at those issues.
I bought 1 orange, with that PEELZ coating, that will keep fruits fresh looking for a year. I scrubbed it with hot water, dish soap, and a scrub brush. Zested it, and juiced it. The juice tasted off. But oranges are not on my Type 2 diet, it had been a while since I had one. And people are complaining food tastes different. We both ended up with food poisoning. Hub can’t take anything, he has severe Glaucoma. We rode that one out, took 3 weeks.

It might force Congress to set levels, and not let imports exceed them. Babies have died from the heavy metals. And please stop the FRANKENFOOD. Since the GMO label was changed, items have shown up in our food we didn’t know were being hidden.

I have started growing my own, and a lot of it.
I’ve been suspicious of the coatings they put on food for some time now and always try to wash stuff off before consuming it.
The dose makes the poison. Some things are absolutely necessesary in small quantities and deadly in larger quantities.
The idea that the smallest quantities of materials are still harmful is insane.
This click bait scare tactic article is not even willing to tell us what the levels of the metals detected were, just using the scare descriptor of "high".

I missed that time period. Our house was picked off a blueprint. And between Mom and Grandma, you didn’t chew on windowsills.
As I’m a canner, I learned all that from both my Mom and Grandma. We don’t have a real Farmer’s Market. The weather killed my garden last year. I learned to get a shade cloth to put over my tomatoes and green beans. I will be using Food grade DE-Earth on the beans. I use it in my 9 hens’ food along with Probiotics in their water. I can control the salt and sugar too.

I learned how to can from my mom, too.
My garden did OK last year. Some stuff was fine but the usual stuff wasn’t. I didn’t even try tomatoes, and it turned out to be a good thing because it was so wet, I’d have lost the whole crop to blight.
I’ve also started pressure canning meat and some veggies. I just canned up some of my potatoes from last year to save them. Otherwise, we would not have eaten them fast enough to use them before they all spoiled.
The best thing is the herb garden. No knowing what
s in the store bought stuff. it takes a lot of work to harvest and dry herbs and make sure you’re not adding weeds to the mix.
I’m getting my garden in very early this year and keeping a good eye on the weather. We had an unexpected frost last night only because the forecast was not for so low, so tonight I’m ready. But getting the onions, lettuce, and potatoes in this early is a HUGE head start for me.
110 heat index and no rain, the smart meter tattled we had a leak when I watered. Then bugs goy my beans, then it poured 5 days straight. That is typical of the Memphis area climate. Of course, the news tried to spin it as climate change. I’ve lived in the area for 50 years.
What no one is getting is an infant can’t consume the same level of heavy metals as their parents can. A 200 lb 6’4” man is not going to be affected.
You calculate dosage based on weight. Autism is one of the issues for these parents.
