Triple threat: Rep. Gosar joins MTG and Massie on motion to vacate Speaker Johnson
Washington Examiner ^ | April 19 | Rachel Schilke

Posted on 04/19/2024 2:07:30 PM PDT by RandFan

Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) became the third Republican to co-sponsor a motion to vacate House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) shortly after the House advanced the speaker’s four-pronged foreign aid plan to a final passage vote.

Gosar joins Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) in supporting vacating Johnson from the top leadership position after Democrats helped Johnson push a procedural rule vote over the finish line — a sign that certain House Republicans are growing frustrated with the speaker’s leadership.

“I have added my name in support of the motion to vacate the Speaker,” Gosar said in a statement. “Our border cannot be an afterthought. We need a Speaker who puts America first rather than bending to the reckless demands of the warmongers, neo-cons and the military industrial complex making billions from a costly and endless war half a world away.”

Go after the Dems...Schumer in particular...He’s been sitting on HR2 since May of 2023. That’s what happens when you don’t have the Senate...Get real...

Yes, but have they submitting a privileged motion? Until then, this is just talk.

They’ll need every democrat to throw him out won’t they? They won’t play this time.

I’d like to see MTG as Speaker. That would give ol’ Joe another stroke.

If they had the Senate they’d be saying, “we don’t have the white house”. If they had the white house they’d say, “we dont have a filibuster proof majority” and if they had one they’d say we need something this big to be bipartisan or it won’t last. Don’t be a sucker all your life. HR2 was never going anywhere. It was always just for messaging and they screwed that up already.

Correct. Look back at “repealing Obamacare”.

All the sane excuses. Then when it finally gets to the end McCain (rot in hell jerk) votes with the Dems and it fails.

They promised for years.

No more GOP for me.

No, they’ll need Democrats to keep him in. If strictly party-line, Dems vote him out, just like they did McCarthy, then they only need 3, maybe four Republicans, which they now have.

We all would, but if wishes were fishes, we’d all swim in riches.

The House Uniparty would NEVER allow that.

I will vote for Trump and Eli Crane, but even my GOP legislators are big sellouts.

Yeah when all you have is the house you just roll over, give everyone else what they want and get nothing except maybe some nice juicy contributions to reward you for your feckless service to your constituents. When all you have is one house in Congress, you can’t force anything on anyone, but you can bring things to a halt until the other side agrees to some horse trading.

Remember, the other side also only has one of the two legislative branches. How come they win everything.

And they’re fully aware of that. They’re trying to publicly pressure him to resign rather than trying a risky parliamentary maneuver. Hopefully their public pressure campaign will work.
