Just for the record, they are named Abrams for Gen Creighton Abrams, Vietnam era armor commander. Nothing to do with Abraham..

During WW II wasn’t Creighton Abrams also a tank commander under Patton ??

Abrams was a highly successful WW2 armor commander, leading his 37th tank battalion from the front at the Battle of Arracourt, later his unit was the first element of Patton’s Third Army to break through to the relief of Bastogne.

In Viet Nam Abrams was the commander of MACV, Military Assistance Command Viet Nam, ie, all US forces committed there.
