Have You Forgotten
This thread was an emotional roller coaster for me on September 11, 2001. Upon learning that my father was visiting the WTC that day and had called my mother to say that a plane had just hit the building, I turned to FreeRepublic for information and support. It was hours (seemed like an eternity) before we learned he made it safely out of the 44th Floor of the North Tower minutes before the South Tower collapsed. Thanks to all of the Freepers who helped get me through that horrible morning.
My Dad passed away in 2010 and he always remained grateful to the first responders who came to the rescue that day including the many firefighters who were ascending the stairs (sadly, to their deaths) as my Dad and many, many others made it out alive.
