Tom Brokow on NBC just a few minutes ago..."we'll have to revisit the freedoms we have".

Kinda adds credence to the topic of this thread, eh? Of course what would you expect from a confirmed Leftist who'd trade anyything for government "security". He should be run back to Canada on a rail.

Yes it makes perfect sense to me.,"Tom Brokow on NBC just a few minutes ago..."we'll have to revisit the freedoms we have"."

The lack of curfews, internal passports (halt- show papers) civilian gun ownership, and above all the remaining shreds of due process limitations on the police are what caused this horrible attack. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact that there are evil people in the world, and that roughly a fifth of the world's population refers to the US as "The Great Satan" I'm sure that giving up internal freedom (as implied by certain idiots in this thread) will make all of these people love us

Is the term "Freeple" already in use? I want to claim it for FR posters who knee-jerk back any govt action.

First order of business -- cause divisions within us and call names. Good going.

>And let us not forget that the prior histor of the Unitd States is to get out of financial trouble by getting into wars.

Rivero, I know you live for conspiricies and see one behind every event, but this is way over the top.

Suggesting that the government would destroy the Pentagon and two major buildings in midtown Manhattan at the cost of tens of thousands of lives just to pump a few points into the Dow and shave a percentage point off the unemployment rate is contemptible.

Please think before you post knee-jerk conspiracist claptrap.

There will be measures taken at airports and ports of entry, government facilities and probably at high profile private sites as well, but it's too soon to predict that the Bill of Rights will be scrapped. That might be the case if there were a large population behind the terrorists, but that doesn't seem to be the case. There probably will be some interesting cases in the next few months, though, since there most surely are some terrorists at large and some sympathizers they can hide among. Doubtless someone will complain that their rights were violated because they "looked like a terrorist," and they may even be right. That happens in crisis situations. But if the Constitution did survive two World Wars and the Cold War it will survive this. The deeper and more intrusive means of surveillance that we should fear, are most likely already be in place and in use.

Of course I have and will continue to fight to protect America. I am asking what specifically was in the statement by EternalVigilence that you found offensive.

The most important aspect of the american promise and way of life is liberty. It is people like you who don't understand this concept and who don't support it. It is people like you who are defined as the domestic enemy. As Patrick Henry said, "give me liberty or give me death". You should be ashamed of yourself.

First order of business -- cause divisions within us and call names. Good going.

First order of business, realize that what happened in DC and NYC did not make the govt any more honest.

Second order of business, realize that mindless conformity is not a healthy response to any crisis. We have to judge Washington's actions for ourselves in peace and war, in calm and in crisis.

Think with the big head, not the little one.

Dennisw - please see my #29. There are many things to be concerned about. Yes, the people who were killed and injured, and their families, are first. Give blood and pray for them. But we cannot let the Ba$tard$ who did this accomplish their goals, by passing rash and harsh laws in the heat of the moment.

Maybe in the heat of the moment you folks are unable to elucidate exactly what you are afraid will happen, but I have to ask you -- what is it you think are "the goals" that "they" wish to accomplish?

It seems you think their goal is to cause martial law to be inacted in the USA. Help me with that concept -- how will that serve them?

When the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, we sacrificed many liberties to the cause of national survival and defeat of the Axis powers.

How do we identify Muslim, Palestinian supporters? Thoughts about THEIR continued freedoms, inside the borders of the USA? I have thoughts.

12 years in the Infantry, and ready to throw the pack back and kick some Palestinians ASS.

But most of the people here are only concerned about how this will effect there rights here in American, and show no concern about the dead or injured.

states of emergency have always taken away freedom, not restored it. this is, indeed, nothing short of tragic for our free republic.

God I love antagonizing you people.
I see you've clearly expressed the only reason for being at FR. Not discourse, not understanding nor desire to see government function properly. You are marked as such in my mind and in the mind of others.
Thanks for being truthful as to your sole intent...antagonizing.
