Sounded like two, much to fast for me to see as I ran to the window. Anyone else in northern mass searing/hearing?

I heard the rumble, went outside and saw a plane over Boston. How agressively it was banking, the sound of the engine, and the ban on private airflight all made me think it was a fighte jet.
I still hear them now outside my window and I heard them yesterday for a few minutes.

Don't live in that area, so I can't comment. What I can tell you is that there were sightings of F-16's flying in pairs around DFW airport yesterday afternoon. They are on patrol for any aircraft that may be ignoring the stand-down.
Don't know if that's the case up there, but it's a distinct possibility.

Are you in a place where you might see/hear the military planes flying out of Pease in Portsmouth, NH?
I've heard that they're out flying around.

Probably the same thing I was hearing this AM just south of Houston. I live adjacent to Elington Field (KEFD), W's air guard base. I heard 3 or 4 sets of fighters between 06:00 and 06:45 and got outside just in time to see 2 black dots going ballistic and headed south-south-east. My daughter did not want to go to school today until I showed her the contrails over over school and told her that those were the signs of the brave men & women(?) that would gladly give thier lives to make it safe for her to go school today and everyother day.

Yes I am close enough. Thanks.

I suspect that the entire coastline is being patrolled by fighters. News reports in Houston say that the Texas Gulf Coast is being patrolled by Reserve F-16's.

Yesterday people here in So. Oregon were calling in upset to the radio stations because they saw planes overhead. They were fire fighting planes accompanied by air force for a fire north of us, but it gave some people a moment of hesitation.

I hear them in Newton and Brookline. They're fighters. It's a much different sound than ordinary jets and I know that sound from a recent air show on the Cape.

Yeah, coming down I-93 from New Hampshire I watched what had to be an F-16 or F-18 go into afterburner and head out to sea.
My office is right next to the Schrafft center and we've been hearing the rumbles all morning.
Of course, no other air traffic than that.

I'm just west of Boston. Been hearing planes all morning. A couple of times, they've been very LOUD. BIG planes!!

Two F-16's were flying over Billerica yesterday afternoon. They scared me and made me feel safe and proud at the same time -- if that makes any sense!

Live in central Maryland. Wife was walking dog at 5:30 am, and witnessed an aircraft with lights flying overhead. She said that she heard a much louder aircraft (larger or flying lower, she doesn't know) heading in the same direction (southeasterly), but with no lights on at all. Suddenly, she sees sparks and a flash of flame in the direction of the first aircraft, and then one of the aircraft with a red light on it veers off to the right.

Air National Guard fighters are patrolling over almost every major city. They will be for the forseeable future. The noise you hear is a good thing, considering the circumstances.

I was awoken at 2:30am this morning in Fort Lauderdale by a jet roar.
I went outside and saw nothing for a few minutes and then I spotted a light on the western horizon. It tracked just to the south of my house and then headed out over the Atlantic.
Considering the speed and the roar, it was likely military.
I went back to bed with a smile on my face.

I live just below Pease Air Base. I haven't heard any planes.. My daughter's house is one street over from the Base itself. I'll call and ask about flights. If they're coming in and out, she'll have heard them. I heard a Stealth go over the other night and it scared the be-jeasus out of me.

I would think you will also see mil tranports carrying worker to NYC... they need everybody they can get
To: libertarian_usa
I hear them right at this moment in Wash-Dulles area. Very high. Hard to tell direction of the flight. Heard also a plane (or planes) 5-10 min ago.

There has been low activity all day. I wouldn't get too worried. I saw a large plane flying over Braintree at 4 AM - I assume a military transport or medical help for NY, and my wife was two F16 or F18s a little while later. They are just keeping watch (although the sound of the first plane scared the hell out of me)

"Air National Guard fighters are patrolling over almost every major city."
That's probably what is happening. The jet noise in my area is almost constant now. Watching DC sky. Thank you, Brave Ones.
