DENTON--Authorities are investigating an early morning attempted "fire bombing" of the Islamic Society of Denton, police said.
There were no injuries and no one was inside when the incident occurred
"Somebody threw a Molotov cocktail made out of a beer bottle through the window," said Kiersten Dieterle, a spokeswoman for the city.
The Denton County Arson Task Force, the FBI Terrorism Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms are investigating. A witness called 911 at 2:37 a.m. to report the incident.
Ms. Dieterle would not speculate whether the incident was a response to Tuesday's terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.
"I can't," she said. "There's no offiicial word. We don't know who did it."
The mosque was founded in 1981 to accommodate the community of Muslims in the Denton area.
The mosque has hosted youth camps, during which 20 to 30 area children came to stu

Hate crime?

At least the offenders did not wait untill the building was full of worshippers with the intent of killing the innocent as their Arab cousins did in NY City and Washington

It's just south of Toledo. There are no reports of problems there in the local news.

Sad, but predictable; we forget there are innocent Muslims. Americans are finally fed up, and it is hard to criticize the ones who did. I hope it was empty.
We have 2 mosques, one nearby, the other about 20 mi away.

Sinkspur,
Denton (Texas) former resident.
Background: "University-DFW Industrial" bedroom community, politically dominated by left-wing (read: marxist) college folks.
Working Folks: GREAT Texas working stock. Lots of engineers (aerospace, military) and residence of many American Airline pilots.
Location: Top-Apex of equilateral triangle, with Dallas-FW at the bottom side, each leg 40 miles long.
Mosque: Unsure of location in town, probably close to UNT (University of North Texas).
Churches: The ABSOLUTE BEST on the planet period (coming from a guy who kinda despises most churches).
Denton Bible Church: www.dentonbible.org/
NO offerings taken or solicited. Just boxes on the side walls. More money than they know what to do with. NO fancy (ego-maniac) choir.
Tom Nelson, Senior Pastor: The BEST on the planet, period. Check-out his internet (audible) sermons. My family still listens to them way over here in Florida. NO TV-Radio "ministry".

it damn sure is not hard to criticizes SFB who attack INNOCENT people. Why don't you fire up the gas chambers and ovens for these people. I am a cauc male, believer in Jesus Christ, and veteran. And I can't believe that anyone would after the history of what this country stands for could openly call for the destruction of a house of worship "gee if we get the kids early they will go to heaven before they reach the age of accountability" give me a freakin brake.

They got a right to hate but not commit arson.

Several dozen middle eastern students stood up in the "Free Speech" area of CSUF (Fresno State University) and celebrated the terrorist acts. They were quickly shut down by a larger group of patriots. There is a difference between free speech and treason. American men and women have not fought and died over the years for this kind of "free speech".. My point here is....if the American Muslim community does not want to be lumped in with the extremists, then they had better be the very first to condemn this kind of thing, the very first to hang out American flags (properly, not upside down)..the very first to help out with donations and the very first to say "God Bless America".

Clean up in aisle 13.

Sometimes free speech isn't free. For instance, if anyone were to wave a Palestinian flag or cheer about this attack in front of me, they'll have a lot of medical bills.

Regarding Tommy Nelson and Denton Bible Church, you are correct. I have had the opportunity to hear Tommy speak. He is "real" and doesn't mince words. The church is also a functioning body of believers.
With that said, I must toot the horn of our local body in Edmond, Oklahoma. Henderson Hills Baptist Church. Our pastor is Dennis Newkirk. Last night, he spoke on "Making Sense of Senseless Things". I believe video of the message will be on the main page of the web site tomorrow some time. We proceeded to worship God in Spirit and in truth. We praised Him because none of this took Him by surprise. And He will use it to bring more people to Himself. Stand back and watch His Spirit move!
