Sorry ... but BS. We've had to put up with this kind of crap from NZ before - refusing to let our ships dock, etc., etc.. If the people feel differently then they better focus on making sure they let their government know because, as their leaders are being told, roll is being taken and it's only going to be called once. They're either for us or against us. And we'll remember forever & ever and particularly when foreign aid time rolls around again.

Excuse me Steven: "Foreign Aid" - who do you think your talking about. New Zealand is not a third world nation. We've backed the West all Century and are currently helping East Timor get back on its feet. Read my reply to Doug and you may understand that he totally got the article wrong. The main point being Helen Clark was not withdrawing from ANZUS, just stating that we haven't been included in it since 1986. If it ever came down to it, you'd be lucky to have a Kiwi by your side. And we will be.

I am surprised and offended that some responses to the freerepublic website have suggested New Zealanders are cowards. If we cast our minds back to the 2 major world conflicts of last century, New Zealanders were dying on the front line, 12.000 miles from home, long before America became involved and none of the western allies lost a greater slice of their nationhood in achieving those victories 'www.cwgc.org'. Unlike Canada and Britain, New Zealand was also one of the few western allies that followed America into Vietnam. Despite all this unjustified criticism, Kiwis would follow America into hell itself and are united behind America in this latest crisis. We have made our elite troops available and are ready and willing to make the appropriate sacrifices required to preserve the freedom our forefathers died for. Hold your insulting accusations of cowardice until after the lead starts flying.

Man some of you are getting really low about this topic and some of you I think, maybe just think that the US should just be directly in charge of the rest of the world. I didn't see anyone trying to get him out, in fact from what I heard he would have easily been voted in again. Well Steve should we in NZ abuse you for all the things he did wrong. i'm a 5th generation kiwi soldier and my family has served in every war since the 1830's. do u know what happened the last time when yanks in new zealand dissed us? because of ur racial policies back then ,u refused to let maori's my people to drink in the clubs do u know what happened we kicked ur ass over 6o injured and 3 killed we are a proud people and will not put up with this shit
