Free Legal Assistance Offered To Those Ordered To Remove American Flags or “God Bless America” Slogans
ANN ARBOR, MI, THURSDAY, SEPT. 20, 2001 — Despite a national tidal wave of patriotism and religious expression during the terrorist crises, numerous incidents across the country are being reported of school children and others being ordered to remove their American flags or patriotic slogans such as “God Bless America.”
In response, the Thomas More Law Center, a national public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan is offering free legal assistance in factually appropriate cases to American citizens who believe they have been constitutionally denied the right to fly the American flag or express their faith in God. The Thomas More Law Center can be contacted at 734-827-2001.
According to Richard Thompson, Chief Counsel of the Thomas More Law Center, “It is an outrage and the height of insensitivity that during this time of national mourning and activation of our armed forces, some Americans are being denied the right to express support for their country by displaying our flag or expressing our faith in God. We stand ready to review and to give legal assistance in appropriate cases, to students, employees and others who have been ordered to remove their American flags or refrain from expressing their faith in God during this time of national crises. These expressions are a part of our national culture and tradition, and protected by the First Amendment.”

If you recall, NEVER to my recollection during the Gulf War did such instances of ordering flags and "God Bless America" slogans exist.
I hope this doesn't reflect a sign of things in our culture sliding just over the last decade. If this is a refection of that, we need to plant a flag and stand up for our country's precious freedoms.

By the way, to any freeper that has not seen the movie "A Man for All Seasons", I recommend that you go out and rent a tape of it immediately. It is a superb film and shows the greatness of Thomas More.
Would JFK or Harry Truman, in their wildest dreams, imagined an America where the Boy Scouts would be pressured to retain gay scoutmasters ... and where lawyers would have to donate time to defend citizens who wanted to show their patriotic colors?
