Is anyone else watching John Conyers trying to railroad Ashcroft's urgent request of DOJ needs to "unleash every possible tool" against terrorists? One item mentioned is that Conyers and others are concerned about "illegal" wiretaps used abroad and brought here to prosecute terrorists in our courts. This is absurdity.

WE ALL NEED TO CALL CONYERS AND TELL HIM TO GET OFF HIS POMPOUS A** AND START WORKING WITH THE DOJ ASAP!!!

Thanks for opening this thread as I am losing it trying to watch this alone......Conyers and now Barney Frank are totally horrid and I am trying to not throw something at the TV set....need Free Republic for mental health....they are making going after the terrorists on par with the government doing something against Blacks and Gays.....God Save the Sanity of John Ashcroft and hope he gets away from these idiots soon!

I happened to be watching Ashcroft's address to the committee. When he finished the chairman (whose name I do not have) announced that Ashcroft had to leave in 35 minutes for another meeting. Bear in mnind this is the man who is trying to form the intelligence setup to track down the terrorists. The chairman said because there was only 35 minutes available, then either side (Republican and Democrat) would have 17 1/2 minutes from comments and questions. Conyer who is the leading Democrat took three minutes to complain that he was to have five minutes to give opening remarks, read pontificate. The chairman said Conyer could use the 17 1/2 however he wanted. Conyer kept arguing until the chairman said Conyer could have his five minutes and then each side would have 15 minutes because Ashcroft had to leave at 3:00 pm. Conyer then said "We will see about that". At that time I got so irritated I had to leave. THe gall of the man. To think he would detain Ashcroft (or anybody who is actively involved in capturing the terrorists) for the sole purpose of deriding that person or for PARTISAN bitching about the Bush administration is absolutely crazy.
