It is amazingly awful. To think that over 200 floors of people, office furniture, computers, etc...all were pulverised to dust!

Thank you for the flag on this one. I have not yet been to ground zero myself but I have spoken to people who have been there. What they say first is that it does not seem real. In many ways it strikes them almost like a huge construction site but the smell continually shocks them into realization.

I think going there in person may overwhelm the ability of a human brain to process the magnitude of the attrocity.

These pictures take my breath away.
It is incomprehensible to me that anyone could do such a horrendous thing. There are very few people that I know who have not been personally affected by this. My heart breaks for all the victims and their families.
May all those responsible for this murderous act rot in hell.
For years I was afraid to go into the city but once I started going a few times a year to see shows, I found, to my surprise, that it was safe and actually quite fun.
Now, I am once again, afraid.

Looking at these pictures clarifies some of the thoughts I've had about this catastrophe and those who "accomplished" it and their fellow travelers. For them, the airliners and the passengers, and the buildings and their occupants (to say nothing of rescue workers/victims), were abstractions. "America," "Capitalism," "Western Imperialism," "Military Industrial Complex."

What we discovered on that terrible day, 9/11/01, is that most Americans do not regard these things--especially the human beings who perished--as abstractions. Most Americans, but not all: To the reflexive, looney-left, peacenik crowd, the planes, buildings, and people remain abstractions. They are hell-bent on destroying "America," and they don't care how many people they have to kill to do it. To them, the death toll is just a number, like the number of floors in the World Trade Center Twin Towers. Collateral damage.
