We Are at War with Terrorism, not Islam

In an historic meeting with Muslim and Arab Americans at the White House Wednesday, President Bush said he wanted the word "Islamic" dropped as an adjective to the word "terrorism."

This move is of course welcomed by the Islamic community but should as well be welcomed by people of all faiths, because terrorism has no faith, and terrorists should not gain any satisfaction or false validation from an association with any religion.

Since this is written by a person with a middle eastern name, I am not surprised by the "political correctness" of the message.

However the author left out some key points:

1 - Catholics and Protestants and Jews don't have countries bankrolling them in thier terrorism.
2 - non-Islam terrorists don't have thousands of cheerleaders hitting the street on the news right after. 3 - Timothy McVeigh was not "bankrolled" by Islamic countries (the money trail is still being traced on th 9/11 terrorist act but all traces are leading to countries, and/or individuals or both in the Arabian world.
4 - Timothy McVeigh or Jonathan Pollard never did what they did in the name of their God or faith or religion. These fanatics did.
5 - The Quran has plenty of so called "scriptures" that encourage terrorism, dying for Allah, etc. The Bible does not. Yes, the Old Testament tells the history of many bloody battles but does not preach that this it way to heaven, 72 virgins, etc. as the Quran does.

Source: http://www.ajcongress.org/pages/RELS1999/JUL99REL/jul99_01.htm

(July 1, 1999)   The American Jewish Congress, noting "the bizarre spectacle of an America gearing up to fight terrorism by relying on the counsel of those who condone the very terrorist acts we seek to prevent," today expressed its "considerable disappointment" with the naming by House Minority Leader Richard Gephardt (D-MO) of Salam al-Marayati to the National Commission on Terrorism.

Marayati has defended Islamic terrorist organizations, including Hamas, and their acts. The Commission to which he was appointed is charged with developing policies to prevent terrorist acts against the United States.

In a letter to Gephardt, his close friend, AJCongress President Jack Rosen expressed his admiration for the Minority Leader's "judgment and intuitive sense of what is right and appropriate," as well as Gephardt's support for the American Muslim and Jewish communities.

Rosen noted, however, that as Director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council of Los Angeles, and in his other affiliations, al- Marayati "is aligned with and defends groups who are vocal and unambiguous in their support of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations with American as well as Israeli blood on their hands."

Al-Marayati has endorsed all of these positions, Rosen told Gephardt. "It is anomalous and an enormous source of disappointment to me that given these affiliations and positions, he has been appointed to a panel charged with combating terrorism," wrote Rosen. He expressed his belief that Gephardt would have no difficulty finding "other prominent American Muslims who are not stained by affiliation with groups that justify terrorism and who therefore would be worthy members of the Commission."

"To put it bluntly," Rosen wrote, "with this decision the fox has been appointed to guard the hen house."

Maybe I would be more at ease if more of our Islam citizens would step up and be sincere about defending "our" country instead of bitching about the possible Islamic deaths overseas. They sure don't seem worried about the 6000 dead over here!!

It appears we will be treated to increasingly frequent doses of this apologistic blame-ducking and shifting as time wears on.

The Islamists such as who wrote this piece are well schooled in playing to the vulnerabilities in the best of western culture..a desire to give the benefit of the doubt, a desire for fair play, and most of all the desire to live peacably with equally peaceful neighbors.

These cynical propagandists soothe the westerner into denial by whispering the words of peace in his ear, even as they are planning their next outrage against humanity. And the peace-seeking westerner is only too happy to believe.

This article got me mad ... I have copied it, ready to write the white house as to the stupidy of this appointment but just now noticed that this article was dated 1999.

Hopefully these "appointments" are not still going on .. I don't know if it would be wise at this point to complain to the whitehouse about something that the past administration did 2 years ago.

Concur 1,000%. Their silence is thunderous. It says way too much. Where are the vocal Muslims against these atrocities? Sure, you can see what looks like a government arranged support gathering in Pakistan, and you can hear supportive Muslims at Mosque's when President Bush is visiting them and queing them with nice words ... but WHERE are the "outraged" Arabs, Islams, Muslims, Arab non-Muslims, etc. that should be in the streets, on the TV, in the press and more protesting these actions.

If this author is the best that we can do, then the Islamic faith has basically admitted that their faith is the cause of such fanaticalism.

Well stated, and worth quoting and repeating!

The classical Islamic tradition, in fact, states that non-Muslims in a Muslim community must be offered protection because their human dignity was offered to them by God and must be defended by Muslim.

Does this include the "protection" given to my ancestors who were murdered by the hundreds of thousands in Turkey a century ago? There have been more Christians murdered in the twentieth century in the name of Islam (albeit falsely in the name of Islam, we are assured) than in all previous centuries combined. The Muslims in the upper and middle classes may be peaceful and tolerant, but (to use a cliche) actions speak louder than words. So far, we have only words from the moderate and peaceful Muslims; and actions from the Islamist firebrands.

Right on. The American Islam people will offer a half-@$$ed condemnation of the acts themselves but will give nothing but indignant silence about the people who did the terrorist acts.

Terrorism is a TECHNIQUE of war, which can be used by--in principle, any group. There are, or have been in recent years, Irish, Basque, Corsican, Tamil, and muslim terrorists.

However, the terrorists who have attacked us so horribly, and put us intro a state of war as surely as the Japanese did with Pearl Harbor, are muslim supremacist terrorists. The aim of their terrorist attacks--together with other methods of war and subversion--is the creation of an islamic world empire!!!

Although the great majority of muslims are not terrorists, and many muslims have no world domination goals, the islamic supremacist (or islamist) movement is a continuation of the conquests that created an aggressively expansionist islamic empire twice--once under the Umayyads and then under the Ottoman Turks. And there are quite a few states and powerful movements that are islamic supremacist, and sponsor terrorism and subversion.

Our war is not with "terrorism" as a technique--such a "war" would be meaningless in the extreme!!! Our war is with the islamic supremacists who conduct terrorist operations against America and other Western countries!!!

To refuse to name the ememy, and above all to cavort with and take the advice of the FIFTH COLUMNIST Salam Al Marayati (see my earlier post above) in fighting that war, is to doom ourselves to lose the war before we even begin!!!!

You are so right! I have studied Islam for 5 years, and I do not need someone to tell me what is in the Quran. Bush, nor any of the American leaders, are qualified to teach Islam. They know not what about they speak. The Quran says the worst sin is to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ! they call it polytheism, the belief in 3 Gods. I know who is a target and who is not, and I do not need someone to tell me. Bush is a good man, but he is doing a dis-service trying to tell us what Islam teaches, for he just does not know. We can all read here in the USA.

Unfortunately it will probably take another horrific terrorist attack on American soil for the US to finally get the message that Islam has declared war on the West.

Islam is a brutal religion at war with both Christianity and Judaism.
