To: Travis McGee, Squantos, Jeff Head, aristedes,Joe Brower, any other former military
Every former combat soldier should take a ride arround the perimeter of their local bases and note the easy access to these bases, presuming one does not intend to drive through the main gate, or presuming one will drive through the main gate for that matter and then contact every person who knows what you did in combat who still has some current contacts in our armed forces. Let them know any chinks one finds in the base security. The knowledge gained from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Dessert Storm and every other combat engagement Americans have been in can be useful. Hell if I can see ways I could easily get in some base where I am fat fifty+ and very out of shape compared to my twenties someone bent on doing damage to the USA can see the same thing. If you see a cluster of military personnel who are "grenade bait" then let the CO know what you saw. If you see a gigh point where a Sniper could eliminate the security detail let the CO know. If you see a gate where the only security is a padlock and a truck parked accross the road let the CO know.

You will probably get a nasty reply but you may save some lives. Do NOT post that info on an open forum but let the CO know that there are a whole bunch of vetrans ready to make a public issue of lax security at his base if it gets hit. Let him know that his career will be in the toilet if he does not tighten up and something happens. Take a look and let the CO know or let someone who knows the CO know.

Today, three weeks after 9-11, military trained airline pilots are still not entrusted with pistols as a last line of defense to prevent another WTC level event.

The more things change....
