even the mere suggestion that gays are being told and are willing to deliberately contaminate the blood bank supply - can spread even more fear than talk about Taliban germ warfare.

Given that all blood is screened for contaminants anyway (HIV, Hepatitis, etc.), are you just afraid that someone may catch "gayness" from the blood?

Since no one is sure how one is infected with this malady... one should take no chances, should one now?

If this isn't an act of terrorism then I don't know what is. This behavior should be treated as a crime against humanity, a capital offense, and worthy of public execution. Seems that some lessons must be harsh if they are ever to be learned.

I think it's a point of wasting time and money. People who have been tattooed or pierced within the past year are also asked to wait for a year before giving. It just eliminates 'high risk' blood donors from using up limited resources.
