..Our beliefs in religious freedom, political freedom, and economic freedom - that's what makes an American. Our belief in democracy, the rule of law, and respect for human life - that's how you become an American... Say it Rudy!!

At the cost of millions of lives, we learned that words - though important - are not enough to guarantee peace. It is action alone that counts. Great speech overall, but I especially liked this part. It sends a message not only to world leaders, but also to the peaceniks that the time for talking is over. Negotiations have failed. Action is now what is needed.

Thank you for posting this great speech. I particularly appreciated the Mayor exhorting us to respect innocent muslim Americans. Over the past week or two, I've heard similar statements from President Bush, AG Ashcroft, and Congressman Bob Barr. Sadly, I am certain that if any of these great conservative Americans had posted their words anonymously here, they would have been denounced as liberal scum. If we turn this into a war between the West and Islam, Osama will have achieved one of his prime objectives. I hope all Freepers will remember that America isn't just any country. There are certain transcendent principles that America was founded upon that make this country very different and special. We've got work to do now; we've got a war to go fight and win, but we have far more to defend than just a particular land mass and a population. I hope we won't forget who we are, and all the things our patriots bled for. And I hope we'll leave bigotry and cruelty to the terrorists. They are not sentiments worthy of a great nation, or of the heritors of the men at Valley Forge.
