Mike, where ya been?
They're still waiting.
My fear is that Bush will put his entire domestic agenda on an autopilot, which means that the liberal nanny state will continue to grow, in order to protect more and more suckers.
Farmers are not the only people hurt by this plan to push people off of their rural property. The local economy is sure to suffer from the loss of millions of dollars in agricultural production. We have already seen farms lost and businesses close as a result of this environmental extremism.
A solution has to be found in the short term for the farmers and our local economy. A strong precedent must be set to stave off this kind of senseless economic destruction across the country. If you think that this will never happen to your community, think again.
The kind of thinking that would clean up the mess created by the ESA across the country can be found in the Congressional Testimony of Roger Pilon, a Senior Fellow and Director at the Center for Constitutional Studies at the Cato Institute.
