I tried to not get Durbin in when he went against Al Salvi. This guy is a bum and has to go, I am working for the Judy Biggert campaign but I don't care who's going against him I'll support him.
You know, I think the '96 campaign against Salvi shows why Durbin is having so much trouble attracting support on his own merits. The ONLY people I meet back in '96 who were happy to support Durbin were the hard-core, yellow dog Democrats. The rest of the fools who voted for Durbin ONLY did so because they didn't like Salvi. Durbin had villified Salvi so much that half the state was convinced he would hand out machine guns to five year olds.
With a GOP candidate that won't suffer from lack of money and a defensive stragedy, we can turn the tables on Durbin and make HIM the extremist. His record isn't selling in suburbs or the downstate area he claims to be "from". Geesh, he's so bad he makes Paul Simon look honest and mainstream. ;-)
