Not a particularly accurate description of the Battle of Lepanto. The two sides were pretty equal in numbers, but the Christians had greatly superior firepower. They used the newfangled firearms to a much greater extent, while the Turks depended on the old-fashioned composite bow.
Don Juan, of course, appreciated that ramming would be less effective than gunfire. Let's not, however, forget a "Christian" shift in the wind at a critical moment.
