In these amazing times, how do you get your news while at work?

Im going to be starting a string of gigs at work and it will take me away from tv and computers. My question to you guys and gals here is how do you get the latest breaking news?
So without a computer, no e-mail, no newssites, no non-stop news programs due to a lack of tv.
Does anyone get their news from any other source? I read in a magazine once that some cell phone companys had a option on their phones that sent news to their customers. I have also heard of pagers that sent news updates to them.
With me being a news junkie, I think I'm probably screwed. So has anyone got any advice on new technology?

How about an AM/FM headset. When I am walking from one site to another I catch up on Rush/news.

Sony walkman followed by car radio.
7:15 to 9:06 Local talk show with husband/wife team - lots of fun and local events.
9:06 to Noon, Time for Rush on another station.
Noon to 1 pm, To NPR's "Talk of the Nation" for an interesting hour. I miss Juan Williams as host. The new guy is ok, but Juan was really good. Must be that ole Fox News influence on him.
1pm to get off time, Back to Rush on another station in another nearby town to pick up anything I missed or back to original station for a talk show out of Portland (Lars Larson - an execellent host).
At least I don't have to listen to Dr. Laura! Geez what a depressing show!

But I spend more time here than with NPR. My first reponse to ANY story I am interested in is to check what is being discussed here. {:o)

Sorry, I can't help you. I too have been attempting to listen to NPR in my printing shop, the dryer messes with am to much too listen to it.
NPR hasn't been too bad with the country united, but I know what they are, and its still tough to listen to. But, in a pinch for news, they are tolerable.
I knew what I was dealing with when they had someone complaining about where the President was during this crisis and saying that Peter Jennings has been a hero throughout. At the same time, in my computer room, KRLA had broken in for a speech by the President.
I'm serious..

If owner of a private business, choose any source available.
If working for someone else, work.

AM/FM walkman type radio. You might want to check out those C-Crane (sp.) radios if you will be stationary from time to time. The reception is said to be excellent.

You'll have to rely on rumors and events that you invent in your imagination.
Good luck, I hope you find that win WWIII, indict and convict Bill Clinton, and establish a playground on Mars.
