Take a little more time before you hit the post button, I was trying to duplicate your "conversating" and missed the "n"; you make valid points but it is wise to make them cogently and accurately.

I always gave my daughter references for contrasting views on subjects such as the ones you mentioned when I learned what some of her books had as "truth."

She is almost 18 now, in college and still politically conservative, but not rabidly so, as I am.

Oh, so I take it that you agree with the Humanist/atheistic perspective? I take it that, despite the obvious, you continue to deny, deny, deny? I take it that despite having good morals, values, and decency for individual living and society, you prefer behaviors that are harmful and damaging to others?

I'm also in your age range and am an American who happens to be black (My preferred designation after 9/11).

Obviously, there was little "diversity" or "multiculturalism" in the textbooks we used. What did we do? My parents, being proud of our racial heritage and wanting us exposed to it, made sure to support supplemental studies in black/African culture and history, which was reflected in our home and in many of the forms of entertainment we chose. I never owned a white doll.

At the same time, they made sure we were exposed to classical music, art, and other aspects of Western Civilization since that was the civilization we lived under. We read most, if not all, of the "Great Books." We were taught to appreciate other cultures, to the point that we sometimes went to school wearing green, carrying green cupcakes on St. Patrick's Day that my mother baked.

My point- instead of forcing the schools to teach "multiculturalism," particularly at the expense of the greatness of the civilization that has allowed us all the standard of living that we enjoy, parents and communities need to make sure their kids get exposed to the variety of multiculturalism that they want them to learn.

Parents must be held partially responsible for the diet of propaganda we see in government primary and secondary schools. They are not paying attention to their children's education, they are not reviewing textbooks and other classroom materials, and they are not complaining to educrats and school boards. They have entrusted the malleable minds of their children to social engineers and low-IQ educators who have been dumbed down by years of Marxist cirricula on so-called "teaching" campuses.

State-run indocrination centers, posing as "schools," are a scourge on America. They have turned several generations of our children into uncritical adherents of the nanny state and devotees of cultural Marxism.

We need an all-private school system. Government should be kept out of education -- for reasons that by now are all too obvious.

Thanks for the flag.

Exactly. Multiculturalism imposes on public education, purely private beliefs. It is, constitutionally speaking, no different than if the schools imposed Episcopalianism on students.

Great Response, and I agree.

Parents obviously are not reviewing the material, or they agree with it as a result of the brainwashing they received at one of the universities.

Multiculturalism is so deep in any and everything governmental, that it's now reached the hospitals. Upon visiting the hospital, today, I noticed that there was a card on top of the nurses station that said, "Spanish for kids". I read what the card said, and it indicated that they were offering classes at the hospital to help your child "learn the Spanish language and culture". This was visually upsetting, for why would anyone need to take Spanish culture classes? What about French, German, etc.? Why merely Spanish? I asked the nurse what it was about, and she stated that because of the huge influx of Spanish speaking people into the area, they had decided to start teaching Spanish. I asked her, "why aren't we teaching English to them, since they are clearly in the minority". Why would we need to teach the overwhelmingly larger population another language in their own country, as opposed to teaching a smaller group of Spanish speaking people, many of whom are illegal aliens, our language, English. The nurse answered my question with, "I agree with you. However, we have to". I stated that this is inciting division in our country and is a threat to our stability. She agreed. I then asked her if it was the government who was making them give Spanish speaking classes to children. She stated that it was the government who was dictating to the Hospital system that they teach Spanish.

Thus, there is really no area that the government doesn't have control.

Personally, what you're talking about is more of your ancestory, not broad scale multiculturalism in a public school. For example, our history is western and it is Americanized. In the past, Italian and Irish did not have various examples of their cultures taught in the public schools, though they were studied in a historical context. That's not the same as today whereby outright historical lies are littered throughout the textbook, and multiculturalism and diversity are spread throughout all textbooks, perhaps with the exception of math. Furthermore, it's usually not taken from a historical perspective.

Nice post, though.
