"....2 people who have contracted Anthrax within India."There are some 20,000 to 100,000 cases of Anthrax yearly. The areas of high prevelance include the Near and Middle East, Africa and parts of South America and Europe.
Given the state of the food supply (sanitation) in India, these 2 cases are not surprising at all.
For example, over the last 20 years, in the US, human anthrax cases only numbered 51, with only 11 in the last decade....until September 11th.

This was not terrorism. What it is, I firmly believe, is some sick jerk-off taking advantage of the mood of the country to mess with our heads and get out some sort of "message" against the media.
Note that these incidents occurred at AMI and NBC.
When they catch up with him, he's going to be either a right-wing nut (McVeigh) or a left-wing nut (Unabomber).

Palm Beach government officials being inept? I don't believe it! The moment the TV cameras started lining up in the well-worn grass outside the so-called "Emergency Operations Center," I knew somebody was going to be screwed. It's November 2000 all over again.

Are you suggesting that Stevens killed himself for publicity? It hardly seems likely.
It MAY have been Atta. These are the kind of guys who bear grudges, and if he was offended in some way he might have taken the chance to get a little personal vengeance around the same time he was doing the big, official job.

I'm with you on this one. I just can't belive that guys who specifically targetted our most potent symbols of economic and military power would then turn their attention to the offices of the National Enquirer in Lantana Florida as a logical next step.

Back to anthrax: American commerce is hit. So is American military. Then American Media. Now the National Broadcasting Co. What do you think? Plausible. After all, the targeted airlines were United and American, both of which sport American flags on their aircraft.

The Florida health departments were, until very recently, under the thumb of the welfare department. They were reorganized in 1974 and their mission was changed from public health to free medical care.
I believe the state health officer is brand new to the job and neither an M.D. not a qualified medical scientist.

Because of vision problems, Stevens then held the letter close to his face to look at itDoes anyone find it odd that a photo editor had vision problems of this magnitude?

We know that he showed up at a pharmacy with red hands Atta would be perfect person to do this - he KNEW he was going to die in a plane crash before he'd die of Anthrax.
Why would he care about contracting a disease he knew he would never die from?
If it had been some other terrorist doing it, he'd have died from the exposure by now and we'd probably discovered his body by now.
Makes the most sense to me.
To: Gordian Blade
I am quite concerned that it was a test, and that the information being published will help them do it better next time.
To: clamboat
Well, beside that fact, I don't believe they would have been so "ham-handed" doing the job. One guy died. ONE GUY.
The others who were exposed aren't even in any danger.
If this had been a serious act of terrorism, it would have been tested and worked out long before they tried to pull it. And either they would have failed in the attempt, or they would have succeeded and the results would have been dramatic.
Remember all those reports of "dead animals" lying around the al-Qaeda traning camps, supposedly seen by satellite?
No, this was no "terrorist act." It will be found to be some boob-job like I just mentioned.
