While Atta knew he would die in the crash, he may have worried that he could be stricken by the anthrax before he was able to achieve his "objective", hence showing up at the pharmacy with "red hands" - looking for Cipro? Also regarding the previous poster who questioned the significance of the "red hands" comment, I think it refers to direct physical contact with anthrax, rather than the inhaled type, which results in a nasty rash - apparently that is what the NBC employee is dealing with.

...I hope some copycat group doesn't start mailing bacon bits to our Muslim friends..Like your thinking R_S. How about the INS mailing expiration notices, to Arabs whose visas have expired, in pigskin envelopes?

Suspected terrorist visited Maryland medical clinic
Associated Press
GREENBELT, September 22 - The hijacker suspected of piloting American Airlines Flight 11 into the World Trade Center was once treated at a Greenbelt medical center, according to the physician who saw him. The FBI has seized the medical records of Mohamed Atta from Greenbelt Family Practice, nurse practitioner Nancy English told The Prince George's Journal Friday. English would not say when Atta was treated or for what condition, but said his name appeared on medical records. He also gave a Laurel address, according to David Granite, a doctor at the practice. English said she recognized Atta's name from the list of 19 suspected hijackers. "These are people who hate us and want to wipe us off the face of the Earth and he came to us for help," she said.

"...I hope some copycat group doesn't start mailing bacon bits to our Muslim friends..." Yes.
That would indeed be an awful thing.

Coz is annoyed with the Palm Beach County authorities for not tipping off AMI sooner. He should be even angrier at the CDC, which must have been aware that the NBC employee in NYC started to be treated with Cipro on Oct. 1.
The CDC is definitely the main information clearinghouse in this situation, but all of its info goes through the FBI, which then censors it, and releases disinformation in its stead.

. Was AMI just a target of opportunity, or a test case? Any thoughts out there?
AMI was constantly doing stories on bin ladin. More then other media companies. Considering that they broke the case on jessie jackson and other big names it might have been an attack because of there coverage of him.
To: Gordian Blade
I think AMI was a target because they ran an interview with Bin Laden: "I was kidnapped by a thousand virgins on their flying carpet." Bin Laden was allegedly upset that he had been misquoted--he claimed never to have been frightened, but the story that ran said that he was in fear for his life as the majority of the virgins wanted to use him as a noise-maker on their landing gear wheels, a kind of live, playing card stuck to the spokes with a clothespin, but the Master Virgin would have none of it as Bin Laden amused her while dancing around on a golden leash as he begged for a spoonful of honey....?

I keep asking myself, why AMI? WTC and the Pentagon were obvious targets. Was AMI just a target of opportunity, or a test case? Any thoughts out there? Is American Media the tabloid publisher owned by klintoon's friend? Perhaps there is anger that the klintoons and their friends received so much money from terrorists and yet failed to keep Afghanistan from being bombed. Also, isn't NBC owned by GE who makes the engines in the planes?

Chris Matthews on MSNBC said that there were similar nasty diatribes in both the NY Times letter and the one sent to Brokaw.
The FBI is keeping the contents secret. And of course we know know they were both postmarked St. Petersburg, FL.
There are also 77 people in FL on the FBI watch list. I'm sure each of these 77 has associates that aren't even on the list.
