In my opinion, Tom Brokaw was quite sincere in his anger and shock that he was a terrorist target and an assistant was the victim - "Because" - as Brokaw said - "She worked for me".
This fact appeared to really upset him, as it should have.
I realize that folks such as Brokaw are TV personalities and that we distrust them (well, I do) but although they live rather sheltered, pampered lives, I believe this brush with harsh reality may have taken the Brokaws and the Rathers (Jennings is hopeless) out of the head-up-arse posture they usually assume and awakened them to the real threat we face as a people and that it's high time to knock off the partisan sniping at President Bush and the sneering at the people and values that made this country great.
The tragic events of September 11th seem to causing some sea changes in America that will have lasting ramifications, even for the media. That's a good thing.
Let me see, if we all knew a terrorist was going to send something like that to a journalist what would we consider more important, saving the life of a journalist or interrupting what might be a high-ratings newstory? How about we give out journalists' addresses in the name of the public's right to know? Or, perhaps those journalists were just asking for it considering they did not donate the bulk of their huge salaries to terrorists.
Now, now, Brokaw. One man's outrage is another man's "Freedom Fighting". < /Sarcasm >
Is this what it takes for you to get on the American side, Brokaw? When the terrorism hit too close to home? When it could have been you?
DEFINITION:
repeating whatever spin the obviously corrupt give you so nobody can say that you, as the media, didnt "report" both sides of an issue (regardless of how indefensible and big a lie you know one case to be)
Hey, Tom. We don't care any more (or less) about your colleague than the other victims. At least she didn't have to choose between jumping and burning, you PUTZ!
So tell us Tom, were the events on 11 September fair to those in the World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon and those four airplanes? Where was your indignation then?
Yes, so far it fits in exactly with what the Muslims on campuses have been saying for years. They rant and rave about Zionism which to them means Jews controlling the world's economy by controlling the US's economy, the US media which they think is Jew controlled and is a propaganda piece for zionism, and Hollywood which they also say is controlled by Jews. So I have a feeling Hollywood will be next.
This fact appeared to really upset him, as it should have.
gee, Brokaw discovered that true evil really exist and that his usual moronic moral equalivalency approach doesn't explain the circumstances around him.
I'd say -- sarchastically -- that I'm heartbroken, but the reality of an innocent person in danger compels my sympathy, empathy and prayers.
Maybe Brocaw will mature just a tint bit. Maybe many of the stupid-assed lefty-idiots will learn from this.
Then again -- we are talking the American press. I'm sure in the end they will conclude that this is Reagan's fault.
I've always wondered if he even wrote the book - I figured probably not; he probably hired a writer to do the work and paid enough to have his name put on it. I don't know, I'm only speculating.
If he truly appreciated the sacrifices of the WW II generation, I don't think he could possibly have ever been such a klinton suckup! Maybe this event today made him finally start becoming an adult. This new war is certainly sobering up some idiots who never paid attention to truth and reality before.
Personally, I've got great expectations for ACT 3. ACT 1 was so magnificent that any expectations for ACT 2 could not be met... so why not under-do it? But this is America, and we demand a reasonable amount of sex and violence in our entertainment. Hollywood is a delightfully entertaining target. And script writers do have the egocentric need to write themselves in to every "artsy" screenplay.
No, Tom, that's not the reason.
