PRISTINA, Yugoslavia (AP) -- An explosion and fire destroyed the offices of Kosovo's two main political parties in a southern town Tuesday in the first major outbreak of violence ahead of elections. No one was injured.

The early-morning blast in Suva Reka appeared to have been an attack aimed at the local headquarters of the leading contender in the Nov. 17 ballot, the Democratic League of Kosovo, or LDK, said Andrea Angeli, a spokesman for the U.N. mission in Kosovo.

The Thaci and his KLA lost the last election, it did not stop them from ignoring those either. There is only one acceptable party; the UCK and her sister organizations.

Dang, if NATO can't stop terrorisim like this what messge does that send to Osama????

NATO has been supporting this terrorism never mind stopping it.

Should be some interesting fireworks when the US military leaves Camp Bondsteel.

Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic's forces out, ending his crackdown on the ethnic Albanian majority
Notice the spin in the AP article. IMO it should read 'ending his crackdown on Muslim Fanatics' that were intimidating the Albanian majority'!

Things were bad in Kosovo, and we were told it was the Serbs fault. Now the Serbs are gone, and many things are even worse in Kosovo. Who's fault is it now?

Ankara - Turkish Daily News 16 October 2001

Cem receives Kosovar politician Hashim Tachi

Foreign Minister Ismail Cem received Hashim Tachi, the head of the Kosovo Democratic Party, who is having meetings in Ankara.

"Kosovo is the homeland of the people who we have always considered to be just like ourselves," Cem said, just before the meeting.

Stating that they had been following Tachi's efforts for the reformation of Kosovo with great respect, Cem said that as the elections in Kosovo are getting closer they are praising Tachi's contributions to bring the Albanians and Turks in Kosovo closer together.

Tachi thanked Cem for the support and interest he has shown by Cem, and added that Turkey had helped them to overcome their difficulties.

Tachi said that in Kosovo's reformation process, all of the ethnic groups in the country would participate in the administration equally.

"We are not putting any preconditions on the minority groups," Tachi said.

'Islam Is a Religion of Peace,' Says Head Iman in Pristina from KosovaLive

PRISTINA, 15 October (KosovaLive)--A month after the terrorist attacks in the US, Muslim Kosovar Albanians have protested and denounced the terrorist acts. Islamic theologians say that the cries for revenge in the name of Islam have no supporters in Kosovo.

"The people of Kosovo will never forget America and it's aid to end the war in Kosovo. They will neither forget the aid of their Arab brothers, and Kosovo has its own way," Burhan Hashani, a theologian and the head imam at the Council of the Islamic Community in Pristina told KosovaLive on 12 October.

The Islamic Community of Kosovo ( BIK) condemned the 11 September terrorist attacks against the US. In a memorial service organized by the United States Mission in Pristina, the head of the BIK, together with the Archbishop of the Albanian Catholic Church Monsignor Mark Sopi, said a prayer for the American victims.

Kosovar Albanians, the majority of whom are Muslims, and a small religious minority of Catholics, identify themselves primarily by ethnic background: Albanian.

[...] The Imam of the Fatih Mosque tells the believers that the Koran teaches that love and respect towards the parents are holy and a very important issue in a post-war Kosovo seeded with social problems.

"We have other problems to think of. The people are poor. We heard of Bin Laden through the media and we know him only as a name. We all condemn the acts when innocent people are being killed. The Muslims of Kosovo do not see the events and the aftermaths of 11 September through the religious prism," Hashani said.

"Islam is a religion of peace and reason, different from how some people intend to describe it," he added. [...]

Yeah, right.

The the 2 years, Since Clinton let the KLA loose upon the population of Kosovo some 1,100 civilians have been murdered and 1,300 "disappeared".........

In the 2 yrs prior to Clinton's Bombing campiagn some 500 civilians died in Kosovo....

Therefore Kosovo is some SIX TIMES WORSE OFF DUE TO CLINTON'S WAR
