FLIGHT 93 WIDOW HAS NO FEAR

As members of the House of Representatives hide in fear of anthrax, the pregnant woman whose husband died a hero fighting terrorist hijackers last month is following in his footsteps: boldly taking the same flight today to encourage Americans to return to the skies. Lisa Beamer was boarding United's newly renamed Flight 81 from Newark International Airport to San Francisco at 8:15 this morning.....

THEY come off tough when defending the rights of farm animals not to be ground into veal. So where are the stars, now that humans need them? That blur on the horizon is blond hair zooming out of New York...

If we had been aboard United Flight 93 and it had landed safely, we would never have known that we had been in the presence of a Man like Todd Beamer.

Had we known, would we have shaken his hand? Spoken to him? Tried to save him for the world?

The cosmos is God's holy scripture.

You're welcome. I'm flying next week, and Mrs. Beamer's courageous flight has removed any vestiges of fear that I had. Her and her late husband's faith in God is tremendously inspiring.

You really got me to thinking. I found the thought greatly comforting. Our greatest strength lies all about us: hundreds of millions of noble and brave American men and women who will step out of anonymity and into the battle, as Mr. Beamer did, when the time of decision is upon them. As did all the Americans who displayed selflessness, nobility, and courage on September 11.
