I am an American Special Forces soldier. A professional! I will do all that my nation requires of me.
I am a volunteer, knowing well the hazards of my profession. US Special Forces were inserted into southwest Afghanistan by MH-60 helicopters on Wednesday near Kandahar and may have included the elite USMC 'Recon' units of both the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit or MEU that arrived with the carrier USS Kitty Hawk.
Other units involved in what appears to be a fairly limited initial operation are likely to include the 5th Special Forces Group based in Uzbekistan and , as you point out, elements of the 75th Rangers.
