I just hope they're not in there to bail out a smaller unit that may have been in trouble. This is happening in Kandahar and possibly in other areas, Fox.

Reporter on the ground in Afghanistan???
Unless he SAW the action, (which I SERIOUSLY doubt) he will be reporting information he was fed. Not that I won't mind hearing that we absolutlely kick a$$ this AM ...

God Bless our soldiers! I stand with you on that! May God Bless and keep safe each and every one of these kids who is risking his life, fighting an evil, vile regime. May they fly on wings of eagles and land safely back at home base.

100-200 Rangers ... the only way this info would be known by the media is if the raid were already over and the troops on their way back to the carrier. Otherwise, releasing this kind of detailed info DURING a raid would be treasonous.
Can't wait to hear the after-action report. I suspect they were after something too 'fragile' to hit with cruise missles ... a Taliban leader, or weapons-of-mass-destruction. Or perhaps to rescue the missionaries that were arrested by the Taliban a couple months ago!

I'm on FOX. They did not report the info he reported in his post. That's why I asked.

Have to discount the source. Dan Rather is proven to be biased an unreliable in
his handling of the truth.
I'd agree with you...until after 9-11.
I think that Rather, as much as I dislike him, has taken a "right turn".
I know it's playing armchair psychologist, but I think his time at "Ground Zero" got to his soul.
And I was stunned at his getting choked up on the Sunday Morning when the bombing started
in Afghanistan. He was visibly chocked up about the courage of the Special Forces that would
likely be deployed in the theater.
He even quoted the philosopher Plutarch: "If the world was fair, there would be no need
for valor".
I suspect the faculty of a most journalism schools are having cows over Rather's
loss of "objectivity".
And I think Brokaw isn't following far behind.
Peter Jennings? He's without a redeemable bone in his body. But in some ways he does
a public service by being a negative role model that everyone can see and
point out to their impressionable children.
Just my opinion, blueflag. I keep a sharp eye on all these news-g-ds, but I think
Rather MAY be a changed human, Brokaw may be transforming, but Jennings
and all the socialists at CNN are beyond hope.

Good timing. Breaks on a Friday evening, in time for the news, but as most people are going home from work and home for the weekend. Thus if the ground troops might have been a potential trigger for US cells to initiate a new wave of terror attacks, the most devastating targets(9-5 office concentrations) are now near empty, and most persons are fairly dispersed. Sure you'll still have conventions and sports events as weekend targets, but its far easier to defend several dozen of these centralized events rather than 100+ large employment centers. Yes there will always be vulnerabilities, but(and this is not easy to type) a few hundred is not as bad as multiple thousands of victims.
Cheney's statements the other night were chilling(more civilians will die on the homefront than military overseas). And you could clearly hear the concern in Mary Matalin's voice on Rush today. The domestic threat is very real, and I can sense that there is a lot which they know about the isn't being discussed publicly.

"Just my opinion, blueflag. I keep a sharp eye on all these news-g-ds, but I think Rather MAY be a changed human, Brokaw may be transforming, but Jennings and all the socialists at CNN are beyond hope." They read the polls. It's all show, IMO.
