It's fine to have a "relative" concern about your loved ones and your own safety but it seems to be getting ludicrous.

Most likely this is some kind of diversion, but it doesn't hurt to be aware. Since when is discussing something "trembling with fear?"
I'm with you on this one. And so what if the kids miss out on one year of begging for candy? If I'm wrong I'm wrong, but at least my kids won't catch smallpox on Halloween because I was careless.
