Remember, This was millions of years ago. There was alot more water back then. It probably hid underwater and wated for a traveling herd of sauropods and snatched a young one as the crossed.

Good point the big croc wouldn't have picked a fight with a T-Rex unless it was absolutely necessary, and then could just sink back into the water.
