Webb's World 10/31/01
By Tedd Webb
Heard Wed. mornings at 6:40 AM on Newsradio 970 WFLA-Tampa
The war is only 3 weeks old, and we were forewarned it would be a "marathon, not a sprint"; yet we have folks getting antsy about the pace. It would not bother me if the only noisemakers were civilians; it's their right under the U.S. Constitution. Hearing Senator John McCain pipe up, steams me. "Just sit down and shut up John!"
The United States has enough problems with "race baiting" politicians like Georgia's Cynthia McKinney and California's Barbara Lee, we don't need a "war hero" questioning the people prosecuting this action. Be a team member for once and put your country's needs ahead of your personal ambitions. Be a real American team player.
I am tired of reading or seeing on TV news of the "collateral damage" in Afghanistan and the death of families caused by errant U.S. bombs. This is not the ballet damn it, this is war, it isn't pretty, and innocent people will die, thousands have already died at the World Trade Center.
If you don't like what this country is doing, find a country that suits your needs or likes. This country is on a mission, join it or get out of its way!
That's how I see it!
This is sounding more and more like jihad. God is on our side, dissenting opinions are not to be tolerated, and thousands of innocent deaths are not too high a price to pay for a principle.
Sit down John,
Sit down John,
For God's sake, John, sit down!
* * *
John, you're a bore,
We've heard this before,
For God's sake, John, sit down!
