Well the ultra-liberal today show believes that Algore really won. Oh and then Katie Couric could have been the press-secretary.

No he didn't. Just ask Jeff Toobin or Katie Couric.

Of course Gore won; that is, if you use the fair, reasonable objective criteria that every person who read Gore's name on the ballot intended to vote for him.
To: Coop
There were any number of these media reviews of the Florida ballots earlier this year. This is non-news.
The results will never be more official or accurate than they were last December, and the liberals need to get that through their thick skulls.

Of course Gore won, why who knows how many people meant to vote for him and got tied up, well, being tied up, whatever they do when they aren't bothering to work.

More like those who could not read Gore's name voted for him.

I know the accounts that work with JW. Bush won! The libs could try every loose standard they choose to prove they point. JW used the laws of the county to prove how won! Bush
To: umbra
I may sound naive, but why the 5th? Why public by the 12th? Facts are facts, end of story. When a story is not a matter of fact, then it needs to be disseminated accordingly.

What if this "consortium" announces that upon further review Algore actually won florida..... What on earth would happen???Nothing at all. These "recounts" are not official and are probably inaccurate. The official vote counting and recounting stopped last December. It can never be restarted again. Otherwise we could make Nixon president in 1960 instead of Kennedy.
To: WhiteGuy
that upon further review Algore actually won florida..... Winning occurs in the Electoral College. Florida can have ten thousand recounts with variable results. None of them matter.

Would have, could have, might have, but didn't.
JW isn't exactly a reputable source. But it doesn't matter. You know why?
Because Bush DID win, he always had more votes, and he's in the White House (doing a great job, by the way).
Let's not fall into the liberal trap of quoting different or better sources of info for "who really won." We already know who won, and always have known: George W. Bush.

What on earth would happen???Nothing. The "consortium"'s count is not the official one.
To: WhiteGuy
Nothing. Florida law does not allow the votes to be counted by reporters and nincompoops. Besides that there are other laws (state and Federal) regarding the timing of the delivery of those "certified" results.
Additionally, the Supreme Court in a 7-2 decision told the Gorons that they had violated a law or two in their rush to discover Dim votes. And in that decision was also a few directives that for a vote to be a vote, the voter must have followed instructions.
Dims must love that wonderful liberal educational system.

There is something I do not understand about this news. What "consortium"? What "recount data"?
The only "recount data" which is relevant to anything was the data from the...well....actual recount: the one which occurred within days after the election, as mandated by law, because the margin of victory was less than 1.5%.
Then of course there were the results of the partial hand recounts, which are designed to discover whether full hand recounts were warranted.
And all such "recount" data was required to be submitted to the Secretary of State's office within one week of Election Day, for certification. One county did indeed complete its full hand recount by the deadline, and was included in the final tally, which found Bush with a victory.
Those are the only "recounts" which matter, and they are over with.
So what is this "consortium" doing? (I looked at the link but it was uninformative...)
To: hellinahandcart
Anyone else agree it's time to move on? Bush is president and nothing is going to change that. By continually carping on this, liberals only look more and more ridiculous. Let them say whatever they want - it won't change the outcome.

What if this "consortium" announces that upon further review Algore actually won florida..... What on earth would happen??? Great indignation and calls for action on DU. Thunderous outrage on bartcop. Thoughtful pondering by the liberal media. A collective yawn from the rest of the country.
