Dittos to that. Her voice sounds like Minnie Mouse with laryngitis. Not that it's about music. The music is secondary. I know someone who saw her in concert a while back and said it was obvious she was lip-synching to a recorded track and that she didn't even do it well, that Milli Vanilli did it better. But nobody cared because it was all about her shaking her rear and showing her navel, with 10,000 little teenage clones all around. Basically, she's selling sex, and she better make enough to retire on because 10 years down the road, nobody will remember her. BTW, if anyone read the Rolling Stone profile of her a few weeks ago you'll get an idea of where she's coming from, which is basically that she's turned into a pure slut. I'd respect her a lot more if she'd drop the Southern Baptist/virgin act and just admit it. Paparazzi have photographed her puffing Marlboros and knocking back adult beverages. Ain't nothing inherently wrong with that, I think she's of age now. Just be up front about it, don't try to pretend you're something else.

Milli Vanillia never sang the original tracks either, the voices belonged to someone else. They were awarded a Grammy(TM) for their singing. That was what that scandal was about.

She does her own dancing though. She doesn't operate the lights.

The "good old days" of record hops and American Bandstand often didn't use live performance either. John "Johhny Rotten" Lydon showed this farce up for what it was when he was on American Bandstand and refused to lip-synch to the PIL song he was there to perform. He made it a spectacle by getting the audience members to dance around the set (blocking shots of the band). Johnny then used the cover to elude the cameraman.

A number of acts perform with full music but no backing band. Obviously some taped performance is being used.

None of this excuses her lip-synching but that is where the industry is and has been. This music isn't my style; when the touring bands I watch have outgrown the bar and small nightclub circuit, I usually move on. Other people are going to the concerts to see Britney and her cult-of-personality-performance-show.

Nah...she's only 19. Of course, IMHO, she OUGHT to be able to have a drink at 19. And if I were her, I think I'd have to drink. Otherwise I'd be a crying mess whenever I looked into a mirror and realized what I'd become in just 3 short years. Money isn't everything....
