Apparently, for their act of war they expected criminal law to be used and are trying to make the argument for criminal law to apply to their terrorism in this article.
The way I look at it is that they threw down the gauntlet and we picked it up. They thought we were weak but found instead that we are strong and we will fight all of them, if necessary, until we thoroughly defeat them.
Another area that needs to be addressed is their accusation that we are attacking poor, unarmed Afghanis. We are attacking their Taliban, Al Queda, and ex-pat Arab soldiers now, after taking out their air force, communications and infrastructure. The innocent, unarmed Afghanis had their chance to leave before the bombs dropped but apparently some didn't wish to leave and it's not our fault that the Taliban, like their palestinian brothers, use innocent men, women and children as human shields.
The people of Afghanistan allowed a character like Osama Bin Laden to use their country as a refuge so they bear a collective guilt for letting this happen. This should be a lesson for apathetic citizens in this country who refuse to get involved in our political process.
