In light of the soon to be released "recount" of the Presidential Election in Florida, here is all you need to know.

Mr. DOOD,

IMHO, this nation has always, and hopefully will always, be guided by the Almighty in all things that are done. Observe the bounty, the spirit of our people, and the great works of mercy done by the USA around the world. We are the envy of the world, and this is because of the blessings of GOD.

George BUSH is inspired and directed by GOD, and we, ALL Americans, will reap the harvest of that inspiration. I must say that GOD will not abandon this nation, and we will not abandon Him.

You may not believe this, as I suspect, and that is within your right. But for me, and I know, many other Americans, it is simply a matter of faith.

Howlin, I don't mind if someone disagrees with me on the President being touched by God. But I'll darn well not take that my comment is un-American or spitting on the graves of those who fought under the flag of this nation. It is not just the men and women who died in action or from their wounds that I'd be spitting on; but, every Gold Star Mother...or spouse left widowed with children to raise. And I would not do that to anyone who gave so much for the life I am able to live now. Especially on Vet's Day.

In honor of my Uncle Robert...died from wounds received Naples, Italy; WWII.

No argument here on any of the above. All of which is very different from saying someone was "touched by God to be president". That's fanaticism.

I'm with you; my father was in Burma; my grandfather in World War I, and other uncles and friends have served. All of the AMERICANS!!! And each and every one of them blessed by God.

And my great great great great great grandfather fought alongside George Washington during the American Revolution. I don't like ANYBODY accusing any of MY relatives of not being patriotic!

Bush was chosen by God.

Taliban thinks Osama was chosen by god. Guess everyone agrees God chooses leaders. Why bother with elections? Let Bush anoint the next leader and so on. Beats good old fashion American democracy. All those lives lost in battle for such a foolish notion.

Divine Right of Kings: a theory which argued that certain kings ruled because they were chosen by God to do so and that these kings were accountable to no person except God. Kings claimed complete temporal power came to them by divine will. In England, it was used to justify royal absolutism. Fanaticism, and unAmerican. For shame.

Bush is president, legally, regardless of the ballot count. But he's not "touched by God" to be president. That's lunacy, but even worse it's Un-American. You spit on the graves of those who died for a country whose leaders are selected by the people, not "God".........Don't do that.

I am continually astounded at the utter idiocy running rampant. The Florida election law says that only a single vote for a presidential candidate constitutes a valid vote. No hole punched is a no vote. A multiple vote is an invalid vote, which is the same as a no vote. A punch that isn't sufficient to remove the chad results in an invalid vote, which is the same as a no vote. Period. There is no mystery here. Besides, Cook County in Illinois had a greater number of over/under votes than did Florida.

Frankly, I'm sick and tired of the recount baloney. An undercount/overcount is not a vote. Hell I just voted in West Texas with a punch card ballot. Geez no damn hanging chads at all. The demonrats can't win by cheating, by denying our military their vote or by having the liberal media counting for him. The election was over long ago. And the man touched by God to be President during these times is in office and doing a fine job. Even Gorons think so.

You tell 'em, Nance! The DIMocRATS are backing President Bush more than I EVER thought they would. Blacks have started to come around and that's a GOOD thing! Those that continue to UNDERestimate GWB are destined to be shown wrong in history. . .IMHO. . .

Why is it that people think that Bush was annointed by God? He was chosen by the people of the United States. Touched by God? That's blasphemous, and totally stupid. If he had been chosen by God, he would have won by a much bigger margin than he did. Leave God out of it. He doesn't involve Himself in our elections. Two words: free will.

Your comments about "touched by God" are fair enough, but Bush won because he got more (legitimate) votes and because Gore was unsuccessful at stealing the election. And I thank God for that.

I said what I meant to say...that President Bush was touched by God to be President. I believed it with every prayer I said last year. I believed it with the prayer I said when he was sworn into office. I believed it with every prayer I've said for him since that time.

You have the right to think the way you do dood...and I certainly have the right to believe as I do. God has blessed this nation immensely. Those who first came to this nation were certainly not anti-God. Did the founding fathers spit on graves when it was written in our Declaration of Independence:

Friend, I truly think that you need to think about this. You have shown that YOUR opinion is important to YOU. I don't have a problem with that. But I DO think you do NOT respect the person that you FLAME because of the RESPECT that person shows for our leader who is under a GREAT deal of stress due to the recent tragedy. Think about THAT if you would, ok? Thanks. . .
